Work email not working on Samsung Galaxy S

I cannot connect my work email to my Galaxy S. The work email is not on an exchange server but an email tied to a website that we had paid someone to make (I'm pretty ignorant on this kind of stuff so please bare with me). The email worked fine on my windows phone and I believe on an older android phone I had in the past. What is happening is that after entering my email address and password it prompts me to do a manual set-up. After manually setting it up, it tells me either my username or password is wrong. I know they are right. It is an imap account if that helps and also after having trouble I went into a T-Mobile to store to try another phone and my email worked just fine on the new Amaze but I am not looking to spend the extra money. Thank you for your help.
 
Never mind. My phone was auto capitalizing the first letter of my username. Didn't think it would matter but it did.
