Worried about aluminium...

Damn, if I were to buy a new phone right now, the HTC One would definitely be a safe bet. It's just seems awesome, and I really like the simple look of Sense 5! I think HTC really nailed it.

I'm note sure I'm too happy about the aluminium body, though. I have little experience with the materiel, but I have a feeling aluminium is a material that if you put the phone on a desk it gets a scratch, use it for a day and it has got plenty of scratches and use it for a week and it's not so pretty anymore (look at the iPhone 5 for instance). What do you guys think about the choice of aluminium in regards to durability?

Furthermore, and please correct me if I'm wrong here, aluminium doesn't allow for wireless charging which is why this is not supported in the HTC One (it's a metal after all). This is a feature I really want so I'm not too pleased about this either.

Other than these few concerns, the HTC One seems perfect. I know people have different opinions on BlinkFeed, but I think it represents the future. On my Lumia 800, I open up different apps all the time to read different news from different sites in different categories. Having BlinkFeed would be my main incentive to by HTC phones in the future as I really like the easy and simple access to my news - I can easily imagine having it as my start screen too. Just give me wireless charging and a durable chassis and I'm ready to buy. Perhaps in "HTC Two", what do you think?

Well, since the silver looks more like a brushed aluminum (though I believe it's anodized) I don't think you'll see the everyday surface scratches. Even the deep ones shouldn't be as bad because it's the same color as the underlying material. As for the black, it's also anodized so the coating is much more resilient than regular paint, but a deeper scratch will show up a little more when you see the silver colored aluminum underneath. As for the durability during everyday use I can't think of a phone that would be more durable, unless you're going to get one of the military spec'd ruggedized phones.

And you are correct: wireless charging isn't an option here.

Don't ever quote me on this but I agree with BigDinCA :-) I kid. Anyways, I'm far from enamored with any HTC phone right now but talking aluminum here he should be correct.

I used my iPhone 5 for 3 weeks now without case still in perfect condition..I think the HTC one body should be fine..

I still think a that material such as what Nokia is using is better. Of course, that is my personal opinion but I don't mind plastic phones. Especially if I can change the cover. Nothing would make me more sad than a scratched back on my handset. :/ In that regard I find plastic (and the polycarbonate Nokia is using) to be much more durable and I think I would feel safer as a user with that.

If it's only beautiful and "elite" when you take it out of the box, it's pointless. It has to last (depending on use of course). :-)
