Worried!!! OnePlus 6 Cracked Screen Advice

My red OnePlus 6 was ordered and should be here tomorrow. I just started reading about the phone cracking on its own, without dropping it, even with a screen.

Would just like advice:

-Would this be a case like a problem with the Pixel and the blue screen etc, where a friend at Ubergizmo said "Eric, there are millions sold, yet this happened to hundreds at the most" so it should be ok?

-Also not familiar with Reddit but I seem to read a lot of negativity there so I don't know if the comments are swayed?

-If I get it and all is good, no problem. If not, would this problem be fixed by OnePlus for free? Or what coverage could be bought to cover it? Tmo was telling me Assurant would cover this for cracks, accidents etc, maybe won't fix it or replace it with a OP6, but I would get one similar in specs and price

I can keep it

I can send it back and wait for the Pixel 3 XL

I can send it back and order a Pixel 2 XL now, then sell and get the Pixel 3

I can send back and get the G7 ThinQ where the reviews are luke warm, yet when the reviewers say why (that it added nothing new) they say it is awesome.

Any advice would be helpful. I don't frequent forums that much lately so if this needs to be moved, I appreciate it. And PLEASE excuse my writing I am not good at putting my thoughts down in a logical way

Sincerely
Eric

I have had mine and dropped it and no cracks. not sure about the screen cracking on its own.

Thanks a lot. What you said along with me seeing drop tests put my mind at ease. Tend to be a worry wart between liking everything perfect and not having money to throw around.

Spoke to Assurant to also assure I will get some replacement. But I will probably spend the $72 for accident coverage.

Again thanks. Especially for persisting thru my rambling thoughts

The Pixel is nice. Briefly had it. But I think phone enthusiasts like me you etc move around and not all phones get better worse, maybe lateral

Would you say the OP6 is in some ways not as good as the Pixel but in fact is better in other areas

Is the OP6 glass protector really good. Haven't used a lot, thinking that something would have to hit the screen head on as in pointy in order to really crack it. and also because some of the ones on other phones I've tried actually seem to be a little oily.

Have you noticed that on other protectors and is it the same ? How does it compare to Zagg or Bodyguardz. I know admittedly from those two companies that they didn't perfect the touch on the curved screens so I along with my roommate took those back to the store

Which cases do you have for plan on getting for the OnePlus 6. How about specifically 8 clear case for it. I don't want to get a clear case and on the back some of it sticks to the back and some of it doesn't forming bubbles. Spigen is not making one for this phone but I assume that the Rearth Ringke Fusion should be great

If it puts your mind at ease, having some insurance would be a good course of action.

I'd imagine the screen-cracking-on-its-own thing (which I hadn't heard of until tonight, when you posted this!) would be a rarer occurrence. Perhaps the screens cracking have something to do with temperature extremes, or with a few isolated units having a screen hardware defect. But it's highly improbable that that would an issue you would have to deal with. Try not to worry (and this is coming from a worry wart!)!

Enjoy your phone when it arrives, and let us know your impressions! :) Maybe even snap a photo for us so we can see the beautiful shade of red! Enjoy!

Thanks to u also. Do u have a glass protector or case

You're welcome! I actually have a Pixel 2, but I use a hard-but-thin case with it and a screen protector. I would personally recommend a tempered glass screen protector; as they offer the best protection (in my opinion, anyway) and still give you a natural feel when you touch the screen. :)

the OnePlus comes with a pretty slim gel case and it has raised corners to protect the screen.

I switched from a 2 XL to this phone. have always put screen protectors on my phone. had the zagg on my pixel but really like the auhtentic OnePlus one.

That's awesome about the raised corners! Is the gel case a transparent one?

Bought a Silk white 1+6 earlier this year. In replacing the glass screen protector with a clearer one, I wiped the screen with an alcohol Wipe. A crack appeared across the middle of the screen widthwise. Never dropped the phone, always a Tudia cover and screen protector. When the alcohol dries, the crack is not visible.

I am sending it in for repair and paying for it, but my confidence in OnePlus quality is shaken.

Any thougts?
