Worth buying to watch movies on?

16x9 on a pixel c.png

The red box is the Pixel C screen, it's roughly 5.89" x 8.33". The Yellow box is how a 16:9 video will play on it (not necessarily aligned to the top, but that's the amount of space it will fill - at max) and it is 4.69" x 8.33". It uses approximately approximately 80% of the space, again at max.

Of course that resolution would be 2560 x 1433 which will be most similar to a 1440 display, so anything 1440p (2560 x 1440) or lower should be solid.

I watched some Netflix last night and it looked great. You forget about the letterboxing. I couldn't get it to work on Superchillin, which is a great site to watch TV on. I think it's a Flash issue but I don't really know.

I just got mine today and I watch some TV on it off of Hulu, and it worked great.

I agree. I watched some Netflix last night as well and forgot all about it and I was looking for it initially.

Google Play Movies has an option to expand to full screen if it really bothers you too.

There are a few posts that discuss the difference. It really isn't much of a difference. It ends up being about a half inch horizontally. I was actually one of those folks that swore it was going to ruin it. The math really explains it. Now I would guess the closer you get to the theater ratios the bigger difference it would make, but as long as the content is made for a TV then it should be negligible difference on the tab.

The screen is the selling point on this tablet. I admit though that compared to Nexus 9, if you aren't going all-in with the keyboard and plan to not watch movies on the Pixel with the keyboard attached (ie holding it) then the N9 comes out ahead esp wrt the speakers.
