So is it worth getting a nexus 7 if i already own a SGN running 4.1. other than the screen size are there any extra features or key elements of the N7 i would be missing out on by not buying myself one

Personal choice but I'm getting one even though I have a cell that will do most of the same things, minus the phone thing of course. 4.3 inch screen is great when I'm out on the go but not as enjoyable around the house. I've sold my 10.1 tablet that I used to couch surf with mostly because I felt it a tad to big most times. I'm thinking the 7 inch screen will be a better fit for me at home or out of town.
Better hold off a week or so though, because if you were to somehow get it before someone that's already order it on this forum they might burn you at the stake!

The screen size really is a lot bigger compared to the Galaxy Nexus. My phone looks tiny when I use it now! And I'm not a gamer, but started to play Android games because this tablet has quite a lot of graphic muscle.
Looking at it in a necessity light, no you don't need this tablet because you can get by fine with your phone. But if you want an awesome toy, this fits the bill nicely.

on paper comparing a phone and a tablet might just seem centred around the screen size but using a 7" tablet adds a whole new dimension and productivity aspect which is not possible on a mobile phone and really does show you need or the advantage of having something like a tablet. Like for example something simple as watching a Youtube video on a phone for me not really the best experience as it is a small screen whereas a 7" tablet for me is perfect. You can always just pop down to your local electronics retail store and have a mess about with a tablet and see if it is for you. Hope that helps
