So, I'm due for an upgrade here the end of march and I've been seriously considering the droid Razr Maxx but I 'd like to know from everyone who has had one now for a while if you like it? Or if there is another phone coming soon or just released that might be worth waiting for. I have to say I've been a bit partial to the Droid line and I haven't heard of a new droid so I thought I'd ask in case I missed something.

Thanks for the replies!

I can't imagine a more perfect phone. I haven't looked back. This coming from a guy who thought his X was perfect. Go for it.

I left the nexus for the maxx. No regrets. As far as something new coming out soon, I'm not quite sure. HTC maybe releasing something nice in the next couple months.

The maxx is a good phone, but the battery makes it awesome! It would be tough to argue that there is a better phone on vzw right now. Yeah the Nexus has ics, but the battery and radio doesn't compare to Moto. I will admit though that there are some small things I miss about my old Tbolt and the Sense UI, but not enough to even think about going back. My wife has the 1st gen Razr and gets very jealous of my awesome battery life lol.

So far sounds like I'm going with the Razr! Is it possible to root the Razr, at least long enough for me to restore all my apps and app data from my DX.

Theres always going to be something better coming out. Keeping up with the latest and greatest is expensive.

But with the current line up, the Maxx holds up to it's name. I would say this is the quality that has been missing from Motorola from the previous phones (not the original RAZR). It's solid, fast, and thin.

Rooting the Razr and Maxx is easy. No custom roms yet however but rooting to restore apps is a definite yes.

I'm very glad to hear these great reviews. Are there any step by step guides for rooting? And as of right now I have Wifi Tether on my Dx setup so that Verizon doesn't know it's tetherd is that still possible with the Razr?

I'll be running the Maxx until the next new system upgrade comes out at the end of 2013 or beginning 2014. It's that good of a phone that I should actually make it through the 2 year contract.

I went from the DROID X to the MAXX. Great decision !! Battery life is great, phone is QUICK !!!!! Go for it and don't worry about your choice !!!!!!!!!:)

Coming from the Droid X...the Maxx will be a nice upgrade.

I will say tho that if you wait any longer you will run into new upcoming phones. That isnt necessarily a bad thing, you will just have another choice, other choices to choose from.

Overall....the Maxx is a very nice choice. I hope I can pick one up today. I have a RAZR and the RAZR is a very nice phone overall.

If I can ask, what's your assessment of Verizon's LTE speed coming from a Droid X?

Whenever I've tested one of Verizon's 4G phones in their stores it didn't seem like 4G was that much faster than 3G. I know 4G is supposed to be a huge improvement if you want to stream video, but what about surfing sites like AndroidCentral - is there much of an improvement with 4G?

Their is definantly an improvement in page load times. It may only be a few seconds, but once your used to it its painful to go back to vzw 3g. Just loading pages with a lot of pictures or videos there is a noticeable differince. Site like ac are not that much faster, but full blown video websites are. But battery drain is still an issue. I work in full 4g and live in extended LTE coverage but speed are at least 3x faster. The top speeds shown are in full 4g and the bottom are extended 4g speeds in central pa.

Yes very well worth it. Great Phone

They told me I would have to pay $30 per month for hotspot on the Maxx. It was $20 for 2 Gigs on my Dx2 and they told me it was $30 for unlimited on my Maxx. How do I get free?

Search is your friend. There is a post on this site plus many others in how to get unlimited data on your phone. Not sure off the top of my head if you can get unlimited hot spot. Wouldn't think so. I think the trick only works to get unlimited data for your phone if your not grandfathered.

The link I referenced above will let you use your wifi hotspot for free, but it's still tied to your plan, so you have to watch your data usage if you're not unlimited.
