Worth waiting for Epic2?

Hey

I've been eyeballing an android phone for awhile, and my blackberry just gave out, so I was thinking of jumping ship to Sprint to get the Epic. I just saw that there was a leak about how the Epic 2 is going to come out in the next 3 months and was wondering if you guys think it is worth waiting for? Right now I need a phone, but I could just use a prepaid phone for awhile if it came to that. I obviously wouldn't mind having the newest version, but I am also wary of whether or not the Epic2 will be as stable and have as much user support and the like, and also if this is just a rumor and the phone will be pushed back.

What are your opinions?

It's worth it to wait. If you don't wait then you'll just be wanting the epic 2 when it comes out. 2 years is a long time to not be satisfied with your phone. I think it's release date is pretty solid since the info came from sprint.

Yes I would hold out if possible. 1.2 Ghz processor single core, 8 meg pixel camera in back with 2 meg up front. Not bad at all... I can't remember all the specs but it should also be sporting the latest AMOLED plus screen.

I'm sure it will be a nice updatee to the original Epic 4g.

I am totally holding out.. I was willing to dump this phone because I hate wasting my precious time with repairs but there really isn't anything worth buying as I consider the "3d" to be a gimmick...

i thought the 3d would be dumb, but my bro has the phone and its a great device. you should reconsider getting it

The EVO 3D on specs alone is nice but I've heard some complaints about call quality.

I'm gonna see what the Epic2 hands on feels like but it just doesnt sound from reports like a large enough step forward to upgrade- hopefully Samsung can prove me wrong.

I will say i went from an EVO 4G, to an EPIC rather quickly. Rooted it and put Syndicate Frozen 1.1.1 on there. Ran that for several months and bought the 3D on luanch day. I am extremely happy with my 3D. Overall the device is more then i expected. Battery life is great, the 3D takes some getting used to and over time will be great. In general the battery life is what is amazing me. Way better then the EVO 4G and my EPIC with the custom ROM. This is the first STOCK android device i have owned and been happy with. In the past i had to ROOT to be happy.

Now with that said, what happened to your Blackberry? I work for a company who repairs and refurbishes wireless devices. We also sell used ones. I dont want to violate forum rules so i wont post any info past that.
If you want to PM me thats fine.
Other options are repairing your BB and waiting for an EPIC 2, getting an EVO 3D. Getting a temporary phone if the BB is not repairable. There are more options then you might think.

I have a couple of co-workers that paid early upgrades to get the Evo 3D. They like the battery life, but both feel the upgrade was not worth it. One turned the 3D back in and went back to his Evo 4G. He said he would wait for the next round to change his phone. I feel the same way about the Epic 2, there doesn't appear to be enough difference. Now, if your going from a BB then yeah get the best phone at the time, that way you can skip a generation. But by looking at the specs I don't think the Epic 2 will be the one. I say wait for the GS2 if your going to wait, or get the Evo 3D now.

If your stuck on getting a keyboard phone then the 3D and GSII probably won't be a good choice for you. They would be great phones but you will be ore frustrated getting use to the touchscreen keyboard and not enjoy them. If this is going to be the case say, find out if you can switch from Boost or Virgins prepaid plans to Sprints and still get the 125 being offered to switch or from any pre paid plan. This way while paying for the phone right now , you will get something for it later plus sell the phone on here or EBay etc and get some money back that way also.

The Epic4g is a great phone to have this phone for 1 more year would be fine. getting the Epic2 and having that for 2 more years is ok depending on your use. You can always get the unlimited plan and still upgrade every year.

If touch screen keyboards are not a problem then I would say get the 3D now and enjoy.
Good luck...

i saw Infuse yesterday... and now i want that 4.5" display! that is sooo badass. would be sweet if sprint got something thats 1) 1.2ghz dual core and 2) 4.5"

...and if its also a "world phone" it would be so perfect! <-- i know i know :(
