Would root help...?

I love this phone, but the lag drives me nuts when it starts. I have the AT&T variant. I am wondering if rooting the phone can give any relief to the lag issues I suffer. It happens in any app at random times. I've tried all the suggestions I've found. I factory reset. But the problem persists. I am just wondering if rooting might help. I don't think rooting alone will do anything. Perhaps greenify could help.

I switched to Nova Launcher and what little lag I had is gone. Also, go into developer options and change all animations to 0 or at most .5

I have tried Nova Launcher. It didn't seem to make that much of a difference when it came to lag. I'm also an addicted to the double tap to sleep my screen (not lock) which Nova doesn't do yet. The apps that do it seem to only sleep and lock the screen, not just sleep it....which takes away the benefit of smart lock.

I have the AT&T variant also. I went into the developer options and set all my animations to .5. The little lag I had is gone now. I also have Touch feedback time sat to long (under accessibility then motor and cognition).

If you double tap the notification bar in Nova, it will turn the screen off. Also, turn down the animations as I suggested above.

Rooting may help if you get rid of any ATT bloatware. I'm not sure what else could be causing lag. My Sprint G4 has zero lag.
