I would not only because I still have N2 so real happy to wait for N4 then leapfrog over N3.
for me I prefer to have a larger jump in specs but if N4 doesn't impress me then sure N3 is on the cards maybe
N2 holds its own well enough that I could even wait for N5!
Cheers

I thought about holding on to the Note 2 as well. I had it for 10 months but when I started really looking at the Note 3, I began realizing it is more than just a minor spec bump. I can honestly say I am much happier with the Note 3. It really is a significant upgrade over the Note 2. From the screen to the RAM, the built in storage to the faster processor, to just how the Note 3 feels in the hand.....it definitely is much nicer.

I am seriously thinking about going back to a Note 2 or jumping ship to the HTC One Max. This Knox crap and permanently tripping the Knox counter if you root or install a custom recovery is for the birds.

I've had it for two days now and I love it. Only complaint I have is I don't get that good of reception at work as I did with my Moto X & HTC One. Outside of that, it's a great phone that future proof. I can see myself keeping this phone for the next year.

Yes I would.
Now a little negative contemplation from reading the article below from BBC/Technology/Smartphone overuse. (I haven't worked out the URL link thing, and this is reported elsewhere I'm sure).
I roughly calculate I look at my screen at least 4 times more than my previous GS2, because of the size, the quality and the uses available. I would hope they develop switchable e-reader/Amoled type screens in the future to protect eyes younger than of old fogies like me.
Be very afraid.

Smartphone overuse may 'damage' eyes
28 March 2014 06:08

Opticians say people are so addicted to smartphones they may be increasing their risk of eye damage.

They are warning overuse from phones and other devices like computers, tablets, and flat screen TVs can lead to long-term damage.

It comes as a survey of 2,000 people suggests under 25s check their phones thirty-two times a day.

Optician Andy Hepworth said: "Blue violet light is potentially hazardous and toxic to the back of your eyes.

"So over a long period of time it can potentially damage your eyes.

"When you're looking at a smart phone, the light peaking out of that is blue violet."

He says tests have found that over exposure to blue-violet light has the potential to put us at greater risk of macular degeneration, a leading cause of blindness.

Opticians say that, although "good" blue light (blue-turquoise) is needed to help regulate biological clocks, it is also thought that extensive exposure to blue violet light can disrupt sleep patterns and affect moods.

"Although we don't know if there's a direct link with it creating eye problems, there is strong lab evidence it can potentially do that," Andy added.

"It's the combination of not blinking enough and bringing the device closer than you normally look at objects - it strains your eyes."

'More headaches'

The survey, commissioned by a group of independent opticians, found that on average, an adult spends nearly seven hours a day staring at a screen with nearly half feeling anxious when away from their phone.

Statistics also suggest 43% of under 25s experience genuine irritation or anxiety when they can't check their phone when they want.

It also found 55% felt the amount of screen time they're exposed to affects them with eye discomfort the main problem.

Eighteen-year-old Alana Chinery from Essex is never without her smart phone.

She said: "I've definitely noticed that my eyes are getting worse from staring at my computer and phone.

"I am getting more headaches."

Amanda Saint, who is also an optician, says the advice is simple.

"Get your eyes tested regularly and take regular breaks from your computer and hand held device."

Still happy, best phone I've ever had. . I'm wondering what the Note 4 can possibly have to make it so I want to upgrade.

It's a NOTE 4, which means it is ONE more than a NOTE 3. That's enough for me to upgrade! :)

Well, I did the KitKat update (I'm on t-mobile) last night, and it's totally destroyed my battery life.
GSam Battery Monitor is telling me I used 31% in 2h 48M, says I was active for 2 h, 46m, and
80.9% of the consumption is from the Android Kernel. Oh, and during that time all I did was
look at a few texts and send a few back: I'd guess I had the screen on for about 10 minutes.

I guess the next step is a factory reset? Now I'm thinking I should have done the upgrade
before I downloaded 30 or so of my apps.

I would suggest letting the KitKat update settle in for a couple of days before doing anything drastic

Exactly what I was going to put an hour ago, but backed out. There have been numerous posts like this, heavy Android OS use, battery drain. Let it sort itself out before taking a sledgehammer to it. I went to sleep on a Saturday straight after updating and didn't look at the phone for 14 hours. All the Google sync options were re-ticked after install, Books, Picasa, etc that I had turned off, Sync was off, WiFi and data were on, Google Sync was showing a temporary Google error, try later; and the phone was getting an hysterical hissy fit because it wasn't getting attention from me.
Possibly a completely different reason here. As the previous posters said though, and you can still use it if you need to, let it settle down. My 5 cents also.

Yup, for the first few hours, it's going to download, update and beat real hard on that radio, causing massive battery drain - and I think it could take a good 24 hours or so before the downloading calms down...

Just picked up my note today at an AT&T store! So far its a great device no issues the software update came up as soon as I turned the phone on.

then Note 3. I have a hard time understanding HTC's design putting speaker in front. They should do a market survey to see how many people actually cares about the sound that much, before making this thing unnecessarily big.

I also hate curved backs, why does it need to curve? oh HTC.

Not a fan of curved backs either. I hate that wobbling thing they do on tables. As far as the speakers go, I don't get the big deal about boomsound. There is nothing more annoying than people who walk around in public with their speakerphones on.

I would say that the Note3 is holding it's own against the latest and greatest. The Note3 would be a wise choice and a great way to wait on the Note4 (approx 7 months away).

The Note 3 is pretty great. When I got mine my partner liked it so much it switched him from his iPhone. He's been an iPhone user for years and loves the Note 3. Hasn't touched his iPhone since. I miss mine. I sold it to by the Nexus 5. I like the Nexus 5, but I miss my Note.

I hadn't realized that the system continued to do a bunch of downloading after the upgrade was "done".... Thanks for the advice! I seem to be back to great battery life now.... essentially no drain.

Speaking of "speakers" where are they located on the Note3? And how loud are they?
I currently use the Galaxy S3 and am upgrading to either the N3 or HTC M8 and I do use my phone to watch movies etc when traveling and this is barely loud enough unless I cup the back.

It's at the bottom, to the right of the charging port.

Pretty loud for me, but I think M8 will have better sound.

ConGrats on your new Note3...AWESOME device

Love the Note 3. You'll get used to the size and wonder how you ever lived with a smaller phone

Plus the Note 3 is still a monster. Still one of the most powerful smartphones out there, even compared to the S5.

Agreed! I just bought mine 2 weeks ago after seeing what the new HTC One and S5 had to offer. Just the fact that it has 3 GB of ram was a big selling point for me. At first I thought the size may be a issue but I got used to it quickly and wonder how I ever owned a smaller phone. Will definitely be purchasing a Note 4 when it arrives.
