Would you buy the Droid Bionic if it came with a keyboard?

In this case based on the specs alone of this phone a physical keyboard would not enter into my decision. I am use to a querty keyboard for the last two years with a BB Tour which is hard to argue with as far as keyboard. Having said that as i said a virtual keyboard would work for me as long as it is the right OVERALL device.

I prefer a physical keyboard because I edit a lot of word and excel docs, as well as use the terminal emulator a lot.

Virtual keyboards take up half the screen when editing docs, and using the terminal emulator with a virtual KB there is no control -c or alt:, which makes it hard to use the vi editor.

I like both ways. Loved my original Droid and it's keyboard because sometimes it's easier to browse the web with a directional pad or buttons. I have a Droid X and a Droid Pro right now and I am using the Pro because the keyboard is a nice option to have. If the could have made the Bionic with a keyboard without making it fatter, that would have been awesome.

When I got the droid I thought I would like the phy keyboard, after a short time stopped using it out of frustration. Went through swiftkey, to swype, which I like very much, and is easy to use. I don't see the need for the phy keyboard unless it's much better than on the droid, which I understand has been improved. Thinking my next phone may be the facinate.

Oh the good old Merge. Yeah I wanted that phone when I first heard about it but now I think I can live without a physical keyboard.

I think the trend toward 4" and 4.3" touchscreens as standard in high-end Android devices has really changed people's acceptance of on-screen keyboards.Even the 3.7" screen of the Incredible was too unconfortable to me. I don't know how people can type on phones like the HTC Aria.

I always have my phone in my pocket so I'm a fan of thinner phones. While there are some times where I feel a physical keyboard would come in handy, most of the time I am served well with only the virtual keyboard.

I very much liked the sliding keyboard on my Droid and now on my Droid 2. Perfect for clicking the links accurately on websites not thoughtfully delivered up to small devices. Used it a lot yesterday evening reading news from a German watch manufacturer's website. But when it comes time (later this year?) to get a new phone (4G Verizon), I suppose I may have to accept one without the slider. But I do use the screen keyboards when I type or search in Russian (Paragon free keyboard that switches between Latin & Cyrillic alphabets; free in the Market).

I'm with you. I have the D2G and I use the slide out keyboard all the time. I have become a fan of the physical keyboard all over again. I like the feel, the accuracy, and the fact that I can type and still see the entire screen. I hope they continue to make phones with physical keyboards. I don't mind the extra thickness.

I really like the Droid Bionic spec wise, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to leave the comfort and ease of use of my OG Droid. I'm still rockin' the Droid 1 and eligible for upgrade in July. Bionic is on my list for my next phone. But I'm not sure if I can live with typing on a virtual touchscreen keyboard for everything. I don't know how iPhone people do it. I mean it's not practical at all, I just don't understand how it's so darn popular. I'm glad Motorola is keeping the physical keyboard alive with the Droid 2 and possibly now the Droid 3 which we saw recently. Droid 3 might be my next phone, ONLY if the internal specs are just as good as the Bionic!
