I really like the size of the 5x but the early reviews on performance aren't too favorable. I also have a project fi sitting in my inbox so want to stick with a compatible device. People are even reporting that the N5 is just as fast as the new 5X! If so that's a shame.

I think the higher clocked quad core CPU's might be faster than the newer lower clocked octa core CPU's. I haven't done any tests, but I would bet that the 2.7mhz quad core cpu of the Nexus 6 is the fastest you can get right now, provided the device is unencrypted.

But yeah, the Nexus 5 is still a good fast device and can be found for $190 new. I'd still be using my N5 right now if the screen didn't crap out on me.
