Would you get rid of S7 edge for a pixel xl?

Not in my usage. My S7 edge gets a bit better battery life than my pixel xl and my iPhone 7+ beats them both. My S7 Active is the king of my 4 devices with 6 hours SOT. Again this is in my usage.

Pixel XL, S7E, iPhone 7+, S7A....... you sir are my kinda enthusiast!!!!!!!

What works for one may not work for another. Just because you do not like the price and think it's too much didn't mean others do.

Everyone values things differently. I don't need expandable storage. In fact I don't like it. I don't need waterproofing. I've had the S7 edge twice. Both times it has issues with lag and other things. This was my experience only. I've had every device that Verizon sells this year plus the OP3. For me the Pixel tops them all. So the price for the device is worth it. Everyone is different.

I'm a pretty big audio fan and I'm sick of marketing and ignorance. It creates snobs. Unless your DAC or hardware wears a certain brand then it's dismissed as inferior.

Most of you who make those baseless claims have zero understanding of how any of it all works. If you did... You'd realize that all the made up science is just marketing.

Edit:

So here's my question... How do any of you know that the pixel audio quality is inferior? Can you substantiate those claims and prove it?

When a cheap $300 Sony system with cheap cables can't be discerned vs several thousand dollars of gear in a blind test I'm confident that a $800 phone and $400 phone will result similarly until EQ is brought to the test. At that point, both of them can still sound similar if eq'd the same. BUT the user can now set their preference. Win, win.

So if all you care about is audio... Just go get anything that works for you. But don't drag down another consumer product to make yourself feel better about your decision.

If you don't know how to substantiate your claims then you're just white noise.

Very well said! Thanks for this

An incredible device for being a tad faster? Googles AI on pixel is no different than on any other Android device. Very little environmental protection, no memory expansion, ugly bezels, mediocre screen. It is a good phone for about 350.00-400.00. But you could do as well with the oneplus 3T. Lets be honest. As I said, the only thing missing from the s7 line is hifi dacs and dolby atmos. Thats why I'm using my axon 7. With this device, I don't have to carry around my A. K. Jr. High resolution music player. The axon7 even has that beat. When Google announced the pixel, I was truly expecting the cream of the crop, the one single device that you'd need to carry. But look at all the issues it's had. And yes, I've got that God awful noise at very high volumes in my speaker. Are they going to give me a refund? NO. Why? Because its so wide spread. Hey I , like you, and countless others were suckered in just like Apple suckers in iphone junkies. I, most likely, would not have been this upset if I didnt throw down so much money for the pixel. Fact is fact, we were overcharged. And all these professional reviews? How much is Google paying them? Probably a portion of the overcharge. One thing I learned. I'll really shop around from now on. Especially when you can get the likes of the ZTE axon 7, oneplus 3T, honor 8 at true honest prices that are a much better value than pixel, and offer more bang for your buck. I would like to close by saying that when im listening to my music on my axon7 and other pixel owners ask me why im not using my nice new pixel, I let them listen to my Axon7. Then they realize how they got taken in. They're amazed and disappointed they didn't look further.
Definitely disagree with you :).

Same is true for me and I own both.
Same for me, although I keep going back to the s7 edge which usually lasts a day or two and then right back to the pixel.

Battery life - Pixel
Camera - Pixel
Portability - Pixel

Video recording - S7 edge
Screen quality - S7 edge
Samsung pay - S7 edge

I have both phones, and I can say beyond a shadow of doubt the Pixels battery life is better than the S7e.

I have both as well. Pixel hands down for battery. Edge lags as well. Both set up with the same apps.

I currently have the s7 edge and was wondering if it is worth getting rid of it for the Pixel xl? besides newer OS, is there any advantage over the edge?
NO it is not worth paying $800 to get the Pixel XL. No way. If you have S7 Edge, then keep it, you already have a top of the line phone.

S7 Edge to Pixel XL is not an upgrade. It's a lateral move at best. Both are great phones and both have their own advantages and disadvantages. There isn't one winner, it's that simple.

this is tough because ultimately it is a personal choice.
I have the s7 edge

then tried a pixel xl
it is a nice phone, but the price compared to the s7e....with the trade offs (no waterproof, no micro-sd, no wireless charging), was hard to justify. They are both 5.5 inch devices but the pixel xl is a lot clunker in the hand than than s7e (just my opinion). Without front facing speakers or something else, I could not keep it.

I opted to return the pixel xl and was happy to return to the s7e. Yes the software glitches on it are sometimes annoying, but it WORKS. For my the software issues aren't worth the tradeoff.

I waited a bit and just tried the regular pixel again. I may have a bad unit because it gets really hot when charging or on the phone...so I am going to return it . I'm done. Yes the software is really nice, but is that worth the very high price?
Thats the question you have to answer.
When the s7e gets nougat it should be better.
The difference in the cameras I think is very small--if it means that much to you, then go for the pixel. But for me it was not enough of a difference.

In terms of hardware and build quality I would still vote the s7e ahead of the pixel or pixel xl.
I might even consider the axon 7 better than the pixel.

Given there is a lens flare issue, a possible speaker issue and new reports of random lookups on other pixels...I'm a little concerned with the pixels these days.

I have the S7 edge, tried the XL and like you said it was way too clunky for me so I returned it. That is one of the things that Samsung hit a home run with and that's form factor. The way they make a 5.5" display feel so danty and not clunky impresses me. I can even use it one handed and I have never been able to on any 5.5" phone. I then bought the regular pixel like u did and I love it. But even the smaller 5" screen I can't always operate one handed BC it is thicker than the edge and not having the curved edges makes it more difficult to reach.

I love the pixel. The user experience is amazing along with incredible battery life, which is lacking on the S7 edge. I get terrible battery life on the edge and that's a very important factor to me. I switch back and forth between the two and still can't decide after months which one I want to use and which one to sell.

As I mentioned before, I have the S7E and the Pixel. I also had the Pixel XL but sold it today.

The S7E was without a doubt the best Android phone I have ever used. "Was", until I got the Pixel. For me, the Pixel has much better battery life, no stutter or freezing, more true to life colors in photos, and a better feel in hand. Everything on the Pixel just works for me.

And, when the next best Android comes out, I may feel it's the best... As far as I'm concerned, the Pixel is not a downgrade or an even swap for the S7E. It is a step up. It's not a huge step up but as for how the 2 phones work for me, it's still a step up.

If I were to compare the S7E and the Pixel XL, the one plus for the S7E is getting the 5.5" screen in such a sleek frame. I do think the S7E feels better in hand than the Pixel XL. I still like the S7E and I may keep mine as a backup to my Pixel but I don't see going back to it as my daily driver. Not after using the Pixel... Again, just my opinion. To each his own. After all, they're just phones.

I've had the S7 edge for months. I have been going into the shop once every week trying to convince myself to get the Pixel. I go in, play with it for a little while and walk out unimpressed.

I like having the latest and greatest of Android. But the Pixel doesn't feel like it in anyway.

Hardware wise I think almost everyone agrees that the Samsung is better. But software wise I think almost everyone agrees that the Pixel is better.

However, software is a tricky thing. I use Nova Launcher on my S7 edge and it flies compared to the stock Samsung launcher. It's snappy, the animations are fast and everything is smooth. Occasionally I use Goodlock and the whole experience becomes even faster and snappier.

After a lot of playing around the Pixel and watching reviews and whatnot I've come to this conclusion;

Hardware: Samsung > Pixel
Software: Pixel > Samsung stock launcher
However, also in software: Pixel = Nova launcher on Samsung OR Pixel is only marginally better than nova on Samsung.

I decided to keep my S7 edge and wait for the S8. S7 edge has been my favourite phone of 2016.

Thank you for your time.
Cheers!

I'm leaning towards the same consensus you are. Yes the S7 edge is a great device but the user experience I get on the pixel is like no other phone I've used. Battery alone is what always draws me back to it. I don't have to find a charger all day, it lasts a full day and then some. I can't say the same for the edge. I wonder if nougat on the edge will improve battery.

It's so nice to have so many great options that people can choose a device that suits their needs. With all the phones so close to each other it really comes down to personal preference on which features you like most. Did me the pixel is hands down the best phone I have used.
