Don't root unless you have a real reason to.

I personally have rooted every single smart phone I have ever owned and will continue to root my Androids until Google gives me a reliable persistent full back up system.

You can still perform an ota update with a custom recovery

I am almost 100% certain this is not true. You can be rooted and still get the OTA, but a custom recovery will cause the update to download and then fail when installing. Make sure to either restore the recovery to stock when attempting the OTA update, or even easier just flash the ROM.

You can have TWRP and the ota update will work. I have myself done it. Root and custom recovery are lost as a consequence. I have not read anywhere of anyone successfully ota updating with cwm recovery.

Good to know. I had no luck with using cwm so thought it had to be stock.

Yh I think cwm even goes as far as booting into cwm and asking if the zip should be installed but the version still stays the same. Dont know whats up with that.

Yes definitely root!!! I rooted mine, threw on the liquidsmooth ROM and Franco kernel with cwm.. Messed with it settings and I love it!!! Best phone is the world.. There's no limit to this phone!!

Depends upon what you are looking to do with it. I am happy with it as is. Pure Android, no bloatware and it's unlocked.
