Would you still get a note 5?

If the Note 7 models including the Unlocked model has the SnapDragon 821 chip I very likely will purchase a second Note 5 as my backup.

I just bought another note 5 and it is currently being shipped. Depending on what the Note 7 is i may or may not buy that. The Note 5 was over if my favorites within the past year. And i have had a lot of phones since it's release. I only hope the Note 7 is really something special otherwise i will keep the 5 for a while. The 5 is a very solid device and like i said i just bought another add i missed it.

With the note 7 coming out the price will be dropping for note 5's . . Obviously the note 7 will be better, but to those of you who have a note 5 do you think it would still be a good buy today?

My note 5 just went for a dip. Had to get a new phone. I was pissed as I was waiting for the note 7. But I ended up getting the s7e. I'd wait. The battery life is going to be way better. The s7e battery is a breathe of fresh air when it comes to battery life. Wait a month or so. Note 7 is going to be a beast.

I personally believe that there will be a big enough demand for the unlocked version of the 64 gig note 5 that prices won't drop much, especially if buying through the carriers.

The 5 is a sweet phone and with the latest version of mm it's made some great improvements on it and with the curved screen the 7 is going to have there will be enough people who pass on it.

I don't know about that. Only people who are phone nerds (me included) even know about "unlocked versions". Most don't even understand bloatware or software updates. My dad is still running on 2. something (I checked Saturday after I updated his many, many apps that needed updating), as long as he can make calls, use a few fun apps, he doesn't care. Last year at Thanksgiving I saw my cousin had a Note 4. It was less expensive so that's why she got the N4.

I got mine a few days ago, used but mint (and I mean "mint" like new) on swappa. I had a Verizon store person install the sim and I was up and going. I've had two upgrades (a major one, took about 45-min, and a minor one today, 9-min) the last two days with no ill effects. I'm just learning the phone but it rings and I can talk on it. One problem I had which had me in a frenzy was that when I connected the 5 to my computer it wasn't seen under "Devices" thus I couldn't put folders of music on the device. I called Verizon and they were very helpful (as usual) and we figured out the "USB connection" in notifications was set for just "Charging" only and not for MTP (to transfer files in and out). We spent a lot of time getting it to be seen in "Devices" but it's there now and I've got some music on the phone. I use SmartSwitch and Wondershare MobileGo to access the phone for installation of .apks I've backed up from my older S4.

I think I would buy it again though, after reading the horrific posts/threads about marshmallow 6.0.1, I was initially apprehensive. But Google appears to be listening and sending out updates (mine through Samsung Kies 3 for the major update, and the second smaller update via Verizon OTA). I was again apprehensive hoping these "updates" wouldn't ruin my phone set-up. But all seems well now. So I would buy the 5 again though I am looking at the Note 7 but that wouldn't be until next year for me when the prices come down. My 5 is immaculate (the previous owner took fantastic care of this device). I'm happy (for now)...:D
