OK, so even Sony's midrange phones are great! I'm a Z3v owner but my wife and I are moving from Verizon to AT&T today. In the process, we have been thinking of ways to reduce cost. (Yes, I could have used my Z3v, but I wanted LTE, and am really digging the larger screen of the T2 Ultra.)

Anyway, I ran across the T2 Ultra on sale at Best Buy for $222, about $77 off (slightly higher than the last Black Friday sale). Since my local BB had one in stock, I decided to give it a try. All I can say is WOW! This phone is perfect for me!

The screen is huge, but due to the thin build it doesn't seem overwhelming! I don't do a lot of gaming (except Super Hexagon) so there isn't really a need for a flagship device. Also, even though it's only 720 resolution, it really makes me realize how much of a waste "Quad HD" screens are. Battery life has been great.

Overall I am throughly impressed. I hate that Sony hadn't pushed their phones more in the US. This T2 Ultra looks like it will not only successfully replace my Z3v, but also my Nexus 7 LTE - which will successfully help reduce cost for us!

If you can find one and don't need a top of the line phone, I highly recommend it.

Thanks for your thoughts! Sony consistently makes good devices--it's too bad they continue to have problems with market share, and seem to be ramping down their smartphone presence.

Agreed. It's a bummer, as Sony has the best Android devices in my opinion. They just don't know how to market them! And now it seems like the company is pretty much giving up... :-(

It's too bad they don't consider spinning off the smartphone division, or maybe enticing some other company with more savvy to buy the division. This seems to be such a common pattern for Sony, all the way back to Betamax. Remember Minidisc players? Memory Sticks? The VAIO? It's ironic that one of their recent major triumphs, the BluRay format, has been pretty short-lived as everyone shifts towards online movie streaming.

Update: Well, the T2 Ultra was a bit too good to be true. The Sony was a great phone, but the more I used it, the more I saw the limitations of 1gb of RAM.

So, for now, I will be using a HTC Desire Eye. So far, I'm not as big of fan as I was of the Sony overlay, but it's fast and does everything I ask . Look for more on the HTC forums.
