wth is going on with my nexus - charging problems

The only charging problem I have had is sometimes the phone just does not start charging when plugged in. A reboot fixes it though.

I've had problems with mine charging, it wouldn't charge with the cord that came with it so Verizon replaced it with one of their generic charging cords. It doesn't seem to always want to charge with that one either, it always charges with a couple of my old BB cords.

They have finally come out with a stock charger ETC-CPK008GSTA these are nice and will work with either the stock or extended battery. Amazon has them for $33

I am having the same issue. After 3 phones and hours of retelling my situation to Verizon technical support, I finally got the answer. The phone will charge when it is off with any universal charger.....however.....in order for the phone to charge while it is on, you need the specific charger made for that phone. Ive never had this issue before (and ive had many phones) but its true! Hope this helps

Don't think this is correct. I charge mine on different chargers (home and car) and it's always on. Never had problem with it charging.

I think I do notice that it charges much faster with the oem samsung charger.

I had the same problem with my e4gt. 1st time I had to swap chords 2nd time I turned off the GPS and it charged in nothing flat.

Before I bought my Galaxy Nexus I did as much research I could on the stuff people did not like about the device or had problems with. The charging method was always an issue in one way or another but mostly the cord and charger included with the device would end up faulty. I priced a replacement OEM charger+cord and the cost of a 2nd stock battery & cradle charger. Along with never having to plug in the stock charger I will always have a battery primed and ready plus I get to enjoy double the life span in regards to recharge cycles. Well the cost of replacing the stock OEM charger+cord was almost twice as much as the cradle charger & 2nd battery.

Charger I use:
Amazon.com: PowerGen Multi-Purpose Universal Rapid Battery Charger for Use with Motorola Atrix 4G / Droid X / Droid 2, 3 / Triumph , HTC Sensation 4G XE XL / Thunderbolt / Inspire 4G / EVO 4G / EVO 3D, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S2, S / Epic 4G: Ce

The extra battery I bought:
Amazon.com: Samsung Galaxy Nexus Standard Battery: Cell Phones & Accessories

Now that the Galaxy Nexus has been out for awhile it is getting alot easier to find good prices for this stuff but around release these were not available. But thanks alot that is a nice find.

Happens to me as well and now the unlock icon is burned into my phone. It's gotten worse recently as the battery won't charge past 50%. I'm going to take it in to Verizon soon to find out what's going on. If anyone else can help please let me know.

I am currently having the same issue. My phone charges just fine but it says it is charging all of the time. If I look at battery usage, it always says 1m 49s on battery. The graph is very sporadic with 6-7 peaks going from green to read and back. I never had this before.

Battery seems to be a lot worse. Is this only fixed by a replacement? I am considering a reset and/or radio reload but I don't see it working. I really don't want to start down the CLN road if I don't have too.

I just started having these problems too. The phone has been flawless for over 2 months, and I talked my girl into switching from her I phone while the nexus is free at best buy. While I'm standing at the phone desk I notice that my phone is acting like it's charging, has lightning bolt and keeps lighting up. I blew into the charging port and it stops. Then 5 minutes later it happens again. Finally got it to stop for good. But then my charger would not charge, would say not charging. But the charger will charge my girls nexus. Finally tried an old HTC charger.. And it worked. I'm just hoping it doesn't start acting up again.

Well, mine is not chargeing at all now. I can't get it to recognize on the PC via USB either. It does trigger a response on USB but says device drivers did not load.

Can you get this to a somewhat factory state and lock the boot loader with no USB support? Can you exchange if not?

I've gone through five chargers now. When I try a new one, it works for a while, for maybe a month or a few months, then I start having charging issues. I've had the original Samsung factory charger that came with the phone when I bought it, a couple of generic Target brand chargers, and a couple Verizon brand chargers. The only reliable charger I have is my car charger, but that's been replaced with a new one once. I imagine it's a problem with the charging port, but not sure if they can fix it or if I'll need to get a new phone.
