Hi
Got my replacement x from best buy. Was wondering if there are too many apps open can that cause the phone to lock up if it runs low enough?
What's the verdict on task killer some say it messes with the os others say its good to reserve memory and keep the system running smooth...because im wondering if i had too many apps open that caused it to lock up... ,only happened once... .
Quirky device i guess like any other....

Thanks

I had the same thing happen today. I was reading a downloaded book through the nook app from B&N and the phone just froze up. It took over five minutes before it would reset. That's the first time anything like that has happened, but I would be glad to know if there's something going on I can prevent.

Thanks

I've experienced about 7-10 freezes since I got my X about a month ago. Most times, I regain touch input in about 30-60 seconds...though at least once I tried to reset the phone when it was frozen and the Shut Down menu would come up, but with no way to select an option I was stuck. Even holding the power button as long as 30 seconds wouldn't do anything. So it took a battery pull to restart. Freezes are definitely an issue with the X for me.

There could certainly be a problem or bug in the Android software causing it but I have to lean toward a third-party app as the first culprit. List what you have installed and see if there are any common denominators.

Apps are hockey, fifa, backbreaker football, anytime pool carrom 3d pool baseball superstar, winds of steel and fandango...
That's it

I have developed a preference of using ATK and I still believe that IF USED CORRECTLY everything will work pretty well, from my opinion as long as you exclude all required apps from the auto close feature the task killer can keep device running well. I had my device for about a week before I really started using a task killer and device locked regularly but after adding ATK my lock up has drop to a minimal. Its not perfect but better.

My x has only froze up once and that was when i added my yahoo mail account. I loaded tons of apps but have not even bothered with a task killer and it's been running great

I deleted my killer and no more freezing up or reboots. What apps should you ignore when using one. I just ignore mail tex and stuff like that. I have not seen a drop in battery life or a gain from deleting a task killer.

Mine has only froze up twice but both times required a battery pull. I havent touched my task killer in awhile so I may just delete it and see what happens if it may be causing the issue. My only other issues was was one time I could not connect to the web and had to restart the phone then was ok and yesterday for about 20 minutes I could not send out any texts. They kept on failing and a restart didn't help so these last 2 things may have had to do with the network and not the phone but I am not sure what happened there.

Maybe they are just minor glitches in software and will run smoothly after the froyo update? Will have to wait and see.

My X has frozen up multiple times in the past few days, including three times today -- requiring battery pulls to reset. On top of that, my X has been really laggy lately. It's incredibly frustrating and has even had me wondering if I should return it. I am not happy.

I've had these issues as well and took it in this morning and the rep talked to the troubleshooting team and that's the conclusion they came up with on my phone was i had to many apps running and they advised me to add a task killer, I now have another phone being sent out claiming that it is new in a pre owned box.. Let's hope its new i told them im not accepting a used phone!
