Ok, first off sorry if this is a repeat. here's my issue. my X2 will turn off than restart (reboot) all on it's own. example. tonight i had it charging in the other room when i heard "droid"........."droid" from the other room. i walked in thinking it was a text only to find the phone had reboot. i've tried uninstalling apps that i don't use on a day to day basis. i've done all of verizons solution, i.e. reformat the phone, reformat the SD. they tech i spoke to told me to power down the phone, hold the power on and the menu(four square) to get the phone into safe mode....it won't. so i'm lost? should i reformat again and not install apps to see how the phone asks? or should i just use verizons option by replacing the phone. it's about a month old and isn't rooted....only cause i don't know how, i am running motoblur rather a home launcher...so please if someone has an idea or has seen this before i could really use the help.

I'd say if your phone is behaving like that and it's only a month old, so long as they aren't going to charge you, I'd just get a new phone. You don't want this issue, going away, coming back, and giving you a headache for the next couple of years.

If you are thinking of doing a factory reset, you might as well get a clean slate and a new phone.

I've only had a reboot a couple of times, so, never really looked into it (what can you do, computers reboot sometimes). But, if you did a factory reset and the problem came back, it sounds like a hardware issue. Sure, you could try and factory reset, not install anything, and, not use your phone again for how ever many days you'd expect for it to happen again, but, why risk it being hardware. If it is something you are doing after you go through a couple of phones you could try your factory reset option, or, get a different model of phone.

Welcome to Android. I had two DX's and a DX2 that would reboot randomly at least once a day. Sometimes my alarm clock wouldn't even go off. Usually I would get a reboot while listening to a podcast in the car. So much fun!

I switched to an iPhone after 6 months of this suffering and have not had a random reboot since.

iPhones also reboot on occasion. I also had 2 DXs that had the random reboot problem. Seems to be a Moto problem, not an Android problem. I've currently got a DINC 2 that has never rebooted on me. I'm personally avoiding the Moto phones for a while.

What I found out is posted in the thread I started. I also found out that Motorola builds their smartphones (dumb?) with a fail safe that when they are getting close to their max usage, they re-boot.

I am on my second X2, I know another with an X2, and, I know someone with an original X. None of us experience random reboots really, and, I am a heavy user. I have had it happen a couple of times in eight months... maybe three or so. While I have no special place in my heart for Motorola phones, I have nothing against them, however, the new RAZR is very nice.

I had that issue and once i uninstalled a task manager app it stopped. I had one day where the phone rebooted so often it wouldnt charge. Since I got rid of the task killer app its been fine.

Shouldn't bother with task killers anyway. But, it's good to know that that could be a potential solution for others with this problem, so, thanks for sharing.
