XOOM gets no love from AndroidCentral editors

I think what he was getting at is if you buy a Xoom from Verizon with no contract you can get 3g at anytime but with the ipad its different. With the ipad you can pay for a month if you want while on the Xoom if you stop service you have to pay activation each time you want the service back. Not sure if this is 100% correct I just remember a friend who has a ipad and he pays on his ipad each month not a bill.

That has not been correct for quite some time.

Verizon offers the same month to month option for the XOOM that it offers for the iPad2. The iPad2 costs $729, with this plan. The XOOM only costs $629 with the same plan.

The XOOM is cheaper in the short run. The XOOM is cheaper in the long run. The XOOM is cheaper then the equivalent iPad2 and offers more.

No. Visit the Verizon website. Look at both. The XOOM is cheaper than the iPad2, by at least a C note, for the month to month plans.

That price reflects it being subsidized like I originally stated. You can go and get it without the contract from VZW and or Best Buy for unsubsidized, at VZW you just have to opt out of the contract. I got my Xoom at VZW without contract and I pay month to month.

No I don't do it direct through the settings of the Xoom like you would on an iPad, I manage it all through their site using my web browser.
