Hi,

Sorry I may be getting a bit paranoid, just after spending so much on a tablet I want to make sure I get what I payed for. The led notification, how bright is it suppose to be? I remember it being quite bright and noticeable. Now however I can barely see it and its not just white in colour it has a lot of dark dots (or bubbles) inside when it flashes. Is it normal or not?

Thank you.

I noticed the little dots in the light as well, but it's still relatively bright. Not as bright as the charging LED, but it is bright enough to notify me that something is there.

When I have an email message, my notification lite is bright white. But twice I have noticed the lite will blink dimly, When I check for updates/emails there aren't any.
It lasts until I force reboot the Xoom.
I asked this question in the motorola owners forum and they acted like i was an idiot and assumed it was and email I had over looked.

I too witnessed this dimmed notification. Forced restarted. Did anyone noticed that gmail account emails are not synching on their own. I sent 3 email from blackberry still no notification light and icons on xoom

Hmm, I wonder if the Xoom supports color LEDs as the Droid X does. I use Gmail Notifier on the DroidX to display multiple colored LED notifications, based on which email account, etc. I will have to download it and give it a try on the Xoom. :)

Nope, no luck. I can confirm that Gmail Notifier does not work on Xoom (it is also so small on the screen it is tedious to try to use). But I did just learn something --- I have NO notification LED at all!! Even with the screen off -- nothing. I have my e-mail set for notifications, but I only receive an icon in the notification bar, NO LED. GRrrrrrr!

I wonder if it was disabled in Honeycomb on purpose? If so, it would be so cool if a custom kernel could enable it! :D

Really? The LED notification in GMail works for me. Had no light for calendar event reminders though, which is odd.

TDR, do you have the 3G or wi-fi version? Maybe that makes a difference? I am on the wi-fi. Unless mine is just broken. ?

WiFi-only here. Do you get LED notification elsewhere, like in GTalk?

How do you force reboot it?

Sometimes I don't get the led notification also. Not sure why, 3g xoom

My wife and I own a xoom. The notification lights are identical with the same dot pattern. Both purchased a month or so apart from each other. No worries here.:)

Ok, yes the LED does actually flash white (slowly) in GTalk. It just does not work at all in Gmail. Hmm. I'm stumped!

it works with gmail, just need to wait. If u have blackberry like me u will notice that it pulls email faster than xoom that's why it doesn't notify. One more thing if you switch screen on it led will stop flashing

My Gmail notification LED is working properly after the 3.1 update. If Gmail or Calendar is acting wonky, the usual remedies include the following:

  1. Verify that the calendar/email is auto-syncing
  2. Clear the application cache
  3. Clear the application data
  4. Remove and reinstall the widget on the homescreen

Cheers.
