If you are having trouble connecting your Xoom to your WinXP (and possibly other Win flavor) system, please read the following directions:

  1. Go to USB and PC Charging Drivers - Motorola Mobility, Inc. USA and download and install the latest Motorola USB drivers. These may or may not be current on your computer.
  2. If you do not have Windows Media Player 11 installed, update to that version. This update provides a file required for the USB file transfer protocol the Xoom uses.
  3. Alternatively, if you don't want to upgrade to Media Player 11, you can download and install just the umdf drivers (WinXP version).
  4. Reboot and then try connecting the Xoom via USB cable. It should self-recognize and install drivers.

My Xoom required the Moto USB drivers to connect to one machine (already updated to WMP 11) and only the WMP 11 upgrade on the other (Moto drivers were apparently already up to date, probably from my Droid 2 connection). USB connection works well from front-panel USB, rear-panel USB, or powered USB hub. Some users have reported problems with front-panel USB connections, which may be underpowered on some computers.

You might want to make this a sticky thread.

Cheers.
