You could always just buy a hotspot... you might be able to get a cheap 3g now that the 4g are coming out.

I'm thinking a hotspot would be the way to go. I don't think you can just download something to turn on 3g, it is a separate radio that must be installed

You could always root your phone and use its hot spot feature.

No you cannot upgrade the WiFi Xoom to a 4G. There is missing hardware as well as software that won't allow it.

If you have a Droid phone its easy to Bluetooth teather the two to get internet access on the zoom
