Hi All,

My Xperia 1 loses signal completely with no data or calls working. This seems intermittent as I am sometimes able to reboot and it works again.

I changed the signal cables in the phone to try to fix this. I have also restored the phone to factory settings and tried using Xperia Companion to fix the phone with no luck.

If anyone can explain in layman's terms what is wrong with the phone that would amazing.

I'm keen to try and fix this thing!

I've attached images of the *#*#4636#*#* phone info page and some other screeshots

Thanks for any help

Welcome to Android Central! What country are you in, and who's your carrier? Just want to make sure the phone fully supports your carrier's network bands.

I'm in the UK and I'm with BT.

It is currently working fine but will inevitably stop working again. I just don't know why.

Welcome! Are you sure your SIM card is good? I know you said you replaced the signal cables in the phone... once you open up a phone that can potentially cause other issues, but since the phones still working intermittently you might want to try a new SIM card.

Also in your Phone info screenshot the Mobile radio power is toggled off, that needs to be on.

If that is turning itself off you might have a system software issue.

The SIM card works fine in another phone and I tried another working SIM card in this phone and it had the same symptoms.

I was very careful when taking the phone apart and i've been using it for a few weeks since changing the signal cables with no new problems, and no change with the no signal problem.

I changed the signal cables because in the *#*#4636#*#* Menu, The Mobile radio power you mention was toggled off whenever it had no signal and refused to be toggled back on. Unfortunately changing these cables the symptoms persisted.

I have attached another screenshot of that menu while the phone is currently working.

I manually changed the preferred network type to LTE only to see if that helps but no joy.

Nice thorough description of the situation 👍

It's sounding more like a firmware or software issue, which would require reflashing your phone... or possibly even an issue on your carriers end. You might try having your carrier reprovision your SIM card before anything else.

I've been having this same issue for some time now. Putting out the sim card and reinserting it multiple times in hopes it'll connect to the network has been my go to. Sometimes taking days of doing this for it to get service. Luckily I have a cellphone (iPhone👎) one of my jobs gave to me for work. (Pretty sure is to track me) 😂. Well the last couple of times my Xperia 1 did this me. I got service right away after restarting it through the Sony Support app under recommended. Not sure if this is the best solution or I was lucky the last couple of times I did this. By a couple I mean a little more than 5 times. Hopefully this keeps on working for me and to y'all.
