I just got this phone, and overall I love it, I feel like I back home after long time for some reason 😅. I mean I had few Xperia in the past, actually lots of them, when my first was K510i ^^, and the last XZ2 if I remember correctly. But it's great to have full displays in use than camera build in display.

But...

It's only me, or LTPO/VRR displays and Android 14, doesn't necessarily like eachother?

I noticed that on my new Xperia with LTPO display, because it getting some odd stuttering when scrolling. Like it would randomly drop Hz to 15hz, and it doing that a millisecond after I stop touching the screen. And the stutter occur actually like every few touches.

And I found out that it's not only Xperia Issue, but people with new S24 line had that as well, but also other phones.

My Pixel 8 had them as well, but less noticeable (maybe because it was dropping to 60hz instead of 15, and I think it was gone on Android 15 beta 2, as I was tested.

So there is hope to see fix for this in Android 15, because clearly it's not the hardware issue, more likely just a software, as it's shame that so expensive phone would get stuttering like old phones does in the past lol, I would expect flawless experience on the phone for so much high price, top end CPU, and almost clear as Pixel phones system, cuz Xperia had actually a vanilla looking system, with few cosmetic changes.

I mean I get it, the phone is fairly new, and there may be some bugs, but like I've said, it's not only related to Xperia, basing on others opinion about different phones.

I don't recall any stuttering on my pixel 8 pro or s24u and they are set on 120hz display but not the highest resolution screen settings, I think @Mooncatt just got the same device see his feedback.
Thanks for reply. It's not like everyone is getting this issue for some reason, but there are some threads when people have same issue with different phones.

I agree, I do see some also post these types of issues on different devices could be settings how screen resolution or display rate is set at like mentioned or an app needs update or OS and what's loaded on the device

I'm not having this issue on mine. I have high refresh rate turned off so I'm only getting 60 fps max, so maybe it has to do with enabling that function?
Well, after disabling 120hz mode, it seems like there is no stutter or it's way less noticeable.

So I guess it has something to do with 120hz, hopefully just software.

Could you enable 120hz and spend few mins walking around system and some apps and let me know if you have similar experience with stuttering ?

Try reducing animations either through developer settings or accessibility settings
Well, that won't help, as the scrolling is not an animation itself. And this is when the micro single stuttering occuring. Especially when scrolling down and up, then stop for a sec or two and then I move up or down again and it's like delayed between touch and reaction. And sometimes, but less frequently, can happen by itself while scrolling.

I don't know, I really hope they will address the issue as there's definitely something going on, and I'm not only one for sure.

Give it a try in developer settings adjust all 3 to .5
