Xperia Z3 D6603? Tmobile LTE?

Depends if Sony US is releasing the D6603 or not.

They are releasing the D6616 which is the T-Mobile varient which only supports the bands which are used for their network.

The D6603 will support T-Mobile without issues, and the same with the D6633 for the Dual SIM.

Below is the specs from Sony Xperia's white paper.

D6603
UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1700 (Band IV), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz
GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz

Cool. Thanks. I think I'm just gonna get the d6603 version. I don't want tmobile bloatware on mine. They probably won't release another unlocked variant in the US right? d6603 is probably it. hmm

On accident, I got the D6653 model, which doesn't support the t-mobile LTE bands. However, confirmed by Sony's live chat, the D6603 model will work. Look for the user 'never-msrp' on ebay. Trusted ebay seller selling all colors for the d6603 model. expidited shipping available. Can't wait (again!).

It's only 650 on gsmarena No tax too i think.

No international LTE support for D6616! Wow! They do not want T-Mobile customers to travel anywhere with their phones to use their unlimited international data and text! A truly amazing statement!

So what did you end up doing with the D6653? I am in the same boat, and will likely do a return, with a loss on my part.

Asking GSM (or CDMA) reliability is like asking whether T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, etc. is reliable. Unlocked versions are $600-$900 on eBay right now. Get the one that fits your services (data frequencies).

is GSM reliable and trust worthy ? im thinking of buying this phone international version but dont know where to buy it

GSM is used worldwide it's pretty reliable.

For D6633, you can go with eBay, or gsmnation. For D6603, eBay, gsmnation, handtec or Clove.

You can't use LTE when roaming anyway.. I got 4G but mostly 3G when i was out of the country with my Sony 6616 every thing worked fine. I didn't have any service issues.

How important is band 12 when using the z3 with Tmobile? I'm thinking of getting the 6603 as well... Does having band 12 make a big difference ? Should it be factored into the decision? I'm in NYC.

I believe band 12 is the low frequency one, which is very good in getting signals inside buildings or homes. Here in San Francisco, T-Mo is still using the high frequency, 1700MHz to 2100MHz, band 4, I am having difficulty getting LTE inside our building. NYC and SF have both 700MHz for T-Mo but I've read that the TV stations that occupy those frequencies still haven't vacated them yet. Don't know when band 12 will go live here in SF.

I own this model in green and silver and I can most definitely assure you that as t-mo customer, I get good LTE speeds.

Approved by the Z3 Tablet Compact!

Does that mean that I can't use at&t lte with d6616? I really want a 32gb variant.

Is it true the unlocked one gets 5.1 android?? Maybe a 5.0.2 fix for the D6616 T MOBILE??

Except that the D6603 doesn't seem to be getting the new 5.1.1 update for some reason...

About LTE coverage... I know I can get the D6616 for use with T-Mobile. It has bands 2, 4, 12, but when I'm visiting relatives in southern W.Va I usually have no service. If I get one of the other Z3 models with many more bands, I could still get T-Mobile on band 2 or 4, but would it get better service in W.Va thru T-Mobile "partner carriers" on another band, other than 2, 4 or 12? T-Mobile said they primarily use "partner carriers" for service in W.Va. The D6603 has a lot of bands that are used by other carriers.

Updated myself. Never mind, I've learned that the LTE bands are for data, not voice. So, having a phone with many bands won't help at all.
