I think I made a mistake--I bought the D6653 model from an eBay seller and plan to use the phone for T-Mobile network. T-Mobile runs on 1700Mhz and 2100Mhz for their 4G/LTE bands. From the description of the phone:

GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 Mhz
UMTS/HSPA+ 850, 900, 1900, 2100 Mhz
LTE Band 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28 and 40 (700, 850, 900, 1800, 2100, 2300, 2600Mhz)

Am I screwed? Will this work, even though it doesn't have 1700Mhz band? I am so worried right now. Please advise.

Yes it will work, but you will NOT get LTE
You will only get up to H+

Why do people decide to look up certain information after they spent the $700+ on a device?

Talked to T-Mobile's L2 support when I made the same mistake. No. You will only get on a 2G connection. You need either the D6603, D6643, or the D6633 model to get H+ and LTE on both AT&T & T-Mobile.

Try to cut your losses as minimum as possible and don't even open it, sell it back on eBay or Swappa and look for the 6603 or the dual SIM 6633 that's currently cheaper.

I received mine yesterday and I'm amazed of the battery life on only the first full charge, disconnected from charge at 5:00 am, Bluetooth on all day connected to my car and moto 360, LTE only for about 3 hours, currently still setting everything as I want and learning about the phone and I've managed to get 8h 45m of Screen on time and still have 9% left. Just incredible.

I have d6633. battery life is amazing to say the least.. I'm coming from nexus 4 lol. easily triples the battery life.

Re: Xperia Z3 (D6653) on T-Mobile LTE network? (1700Mhz and 1200Mhz band)

OK, so it looks like the D6653 does not get T-Mobile's LTE since it has 2100Mhz, but is missing the 1700Mhz. (Correct me if I am wrong)

However, LTE is not in my area, but HSPA+ is. Will this at least get me into the HSPA+ data services?

Nope, same problem. A lot of T-Mobile's HSPA is on the 1700/2100 band (they're a single band, the two frequencies work together). You might get some HSPA in areas where it's been moved to 1900, that's it.

You won't get 4G (HSPA+) or 4G LTE. but you'll be lucky to pick up 3G (HSPA). This should work on 2G (EDGE) and 3G (HSPA).

Thank you all for your replies. Shucks, it's going back for return.

Re: Xperia Z3 (D6653) on T-Mobile LTE network? (1700Mhz and 1200Mhz band)

I did the same thing except I got H+ only on my first one
I sold it back on eBay for $630 and got the dual sim LTE one...now I'm a happy camper :)

Re: Xperia Z3 (D6653) on T-Mobile LTE network? (1700Mhz and 1200Mhz band)

May I ask what was your loss after eBay and PayPal fees?

I would have sold it on swappa. Screw ebay's fees.

Re: Xperia Z3 (D6653) on T-Mobile LTE network? (1700Mhz and 1200Mhz band)

Is it easy to sell on Swappa? Because I know with eBay you pretty much guaranteed to get a buyer

VERY easy to sell on Swappa. In fact, swappa is only for phones and tablets. Sold my brother's HTC One M8 and G2 on there instantly at a good price.

Re: Xperia Z3 (D6653) on T-Mobile LTE network? (1700Mhz and 1200Mhz band)

It is roughly $50 shipping + $100 restocking fee from the eBay seller. FML. Don't buy from tropical_mobile if you plan to return/exchange as they state they are from Tennessee, but in reality, ships from Singapore. Hence the shipping fee.

Sold mine for $518 (listed $550) on Swappa minus fees. Lost more than $100 on this. The phone decreases value very rapidly -- I bought it for $647 this Monday on eBay. Now it is $599.99 on eBay. Who knows how much it will be in a week or two. Learned a lesson, don't get the D6653 if you live in the US.

What color is your set? My area is using 1800(B3)/2600(B7). I am looking for white and if price is reasonable, I can consider.

More like don't buy this anywhere because of the supported frequencies. Not just Canada or US. :)
