Xperia z3 or 2014 Moto X?

I am coming from windows phone and am looking to get an android phone. I want to buy an unlocked phone so I do not have to get a contract and am looking at the Xperia Z3, Moto X (2014), and the Nexus 6. What one should I get?

I second this opinion. Both are excellent phones. I have not used a Z3, but I would imagine the software is just as terrible as Sony's software on everything else they make.

What Windows phone did you have? If it was something like a 925 or 1020 then you might find that the Nexus 6 is too big. I also have a few windows phones(925, 1020 and 1520) and I had a Nexus 6 for a week when they came out and I didn't like it because it was to big for what it was and felt bigger than my 1520 and was anything but smooth, I had an LG G3 at the same time and it was as smooth to use as the Nexus and the G3 is not known for being a smooth phone.

The Moto X is as fast and smooth to use as my Nokia 1520 and for me is the perfect size.

I'm finding the battery to be better than any of the Nokia phones I have or had with the exception of the 1520 for obvious reasons.
