xpperia l1 not waking on call

[Android Central Question]

When xperia l1 is asleep and i get call it won't wake. I have to press power button. Then i see tiny phone icon at top of screen. I can pull that down and answer

If i press the circle to the right of the phone icon i get a full screen where i can pull right to answer

when i had phone first the full screen would open first and give me option of pull to green to answer or pull to red to reject.

The proximity test changes the colour above the ear icon. The vibrate does not work though set to vibrate when i get call. In safe mode it is the same so no third party app blocking it
