Android Central Question

Since my Droid Turbo 2 updated to Android 7.0, my Yahoo! mail application notifications on the lock screen are showing as blank circles. I have verified (and reset to default) all Notifications, we well as verified that Yahoo app notifications are enabled. I hear the sounds for each Yahoo mail account, but the circles that appear whenever I get emails on any of those accounts show up as blank circles ever since. The Yahoo app is the only application where the circle notifications on lock screen are blank. I would prefer not doing a factory restore, if this is a known problem with a resolution, but cannot seem to find where this same problem has been resolved by anyone as of yet. I know Yahoo Help is worthless and will not even bother asking any of them about this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I reset my phone since no responses were given; now I do not have those circles at all and have been trying to find a way to fix that problem, as well. This is a ghost problem - no answer, apparently!

UPDATE – 01-25-18: I reset my phone since no responses were given to the original post trying to assist; now I do not have those circles at all and have been trying to find a way to fix that problem, as well. I cannot seem to find the app responsible for allowing those circles to appear, and all of my apps were factory-reset to “All notifications on lock screen” setting, but never see the notification circles like I used to see. It’s really been a struggle trying to find how to fix this issue.

I merged your threads to avoid parallel discussions.

Try going to Settings>Apps, select Yahoo Mail, then Storage, then Clear Cache/Clear Data. Then open the app again and log back in. Does the same thing happen on the lockscreen?

When you mentioned Yahoo Help being worthless, do you mean their support email? ymail-play-store-feedback@oath.com. It's still worth sending an email to them -- maybe it's a known issue.

Good Morning B. Diddy,

Thank you for the suggestion, but clearing the cache was attempted before doing a factory reset. As for the Yahoo! Help - I was not aware of the email address you provided; I had posted a few other problems in their Support pages, and got blow-off responses each time. I always mention what I have tried to resolve issues myself, and those items were ignored in their responses, so they basically did not read the entire script of the problem before providing a blow-off type of response (giving a link on how to clean cache, or other such help links, none of which addressed my concern.) Plus, they would close the ticket without asking if the issue was resolved or not, so I had to keep opening new ones. I gave up after multiple attempts to get decent help that way. I prefer to work with techs who pay attention to the problem details provided, and respond accordingly. Thank you very much for your response. I will try to send an email to that address, but the problem is still present today. Thanks again. :)

Sorry that you're still having issues there. I wonder if you might have installed some other app that's interfering with the lockscreen notifications for Yahoo Mail. If you're willing to try another factory reset, do it again but this time, don't restore the phone from a backup -- do it as if you're setting up a new phone. Install only Yahoo Mail, and see if the problem persists.
