I decided to give Yahoo messenger video chat addon a try. It works. Need Yahoo messenger 1.2 installed first. I only tried over wifi. I'll check out 3G later. I did not see any setting for video. Like off or on for incoming or outgoing video feeds.

Your post is confusing. You say you don't see any setting for video, yet you also say "it works"? What works?

Since we don't have a front facing camera, what are we trying to do here, exactly? The best we can hope for as far as I can see right now is the ability to view someone else's video feed (or perhaps use our rear-facing camera for akward one-side-at-a-time video chatting).

If you're talking about Yahoo messenger working as an IM client, I think that's been out and working for a long time already...

What he's saying (I think) is that if you choose to video chat you can't turn in on/off. I'm confused as to whether that's all the time or only in individual conversations. I also think it might mean that you can't adjust the video quality.

Yes it would be awkward. But it does work. And for some people that's enough. Maybe they cover up there camera but like to see the other person (like if they are on a trip and wanna see the kids that stayed home).

Wait, what "does work"? You can see the other person?
Does it use the rear camera?
What's going on here???! :)

As you can see by the OP's indicator they are offline so if anyone is really pressed to find out, you could always install it, find out for yourself, then report back.

Cheers!

I did, earlier today. Nothing worked. Video box was grayed out, as I expected it to be since we aren't one of the listed compatible handsets. Then again, I did not have anyone else with a camera to call to test, but I just assumed the box would always be grayed out.

And then I saw this thread. Imagine my confusion.

yeah the video call function works. Just no options for video settings. It is awkward usiing the rear camera, but it works

I also can confirm that yahoo video work I even used on my girlfriends samaung intercept running android 2.1 cool app but really needs work videos were very very slow and words came 2 seconds after you speak but wifi is your best bet on this phone you of course dont have the front camera so you would have to take turns talking to see lol but it works

Ok, this is me eating my words.
Awesome stuff!! It DOES work, and it DOES use the rear camera.

Using it is a little akward without a mirror, though. I just tried a call to my laptop in front of a mirror so I could see the display while the rear camera is facing me. Still a very cool proof of concept.
