Yelling at Verizon

The latest update did not fix this issue for me also.battery life and signal problems.
There is nothing you can do just ride it out until next upgrade or contract expire.

Yep, ride the contract till your free at last...!:);):p:D:thumbup:

Have you ever considered rooting your device and installing something like AOKP and a different kernel? I have seen phenomenal improvements since doing this. Usually I can get a full 24 hours on battery and most of the time more. As far as data drops go, they are far and few in between.

I'm contemplating returning my GNex, but I am conflicted. On one hand, I love this device. On the other, the mic cutting out mid call is really starting to take it's toll.

That being said... I always deal with VZW over the phone, as I get the best results that way (though it doesn't hurt that I'm a VIP customer). I wouldn't ask for a straight up exchange for a newer device. I would throw out the offer to pay a pro-rated amount.

That's your best bet. I was fortunate enough to have "swap for Maxx" noted in my account if I should ever want to switch. I was tempted to try the same deal with the SIII, but that home button really cramps my style. From my experiences, here's what you need:

(1) Longstanding customer. Better part of a decade, no less. I've had a line with Verizon for about 9 years now and my line is the "first" line in the family plan. Each line is added to mine, so I get the uber-awesome status. 9 years ago it was just my line, now it's 5 lines with unlimited data. That shows loyalty and they love that.

(2) Polite. Don't yell; this is obvious, but some get upset really quickly hiding behind a phone.

(3) Don't out and out ask, but dodge around the issue. "Is there any alternative to me getting another replacement? I just want a 4G device of comparable value and meaning." Stuff like that. If you say, "Yo homey, give me a Maxx" you're dead on arrival.

All of these are so true when it comes to Verizon. I always follow those 3 since I am part of a family share plan that has been with Verizon since their beginning I believe. I know at least my line has been part of the family share plan for over 9 years now and I am an account holder as well.

If you go to Verizon and show some respect and don't come out of the gate acting like your god's gift to the human race and demand something usually they will do everything they can to help you. Yes, everyone gets angry and frustrated but it rarely gets you anywhere. Think about how you would react if someone came in screaming and ing to you compared to the nice and calm guy.

Another thing that can help is try and extend the call time as long as you can. The longer they are the phone with the same customer(without them freaking out) the more they are urged to comply just to move the process along. But avoid repeating your self that frustrates people.

I've also noticed that the people on the phone seem to have "more power" than people in store. Why? Who knows. It's also good to talk to tech people and chum a bit. Don't mention rooting unless they start talking about it--and never, ever admit that you do it. But still, find common ground and let them like you a bit.

It pays dividends.

Pretty much what Dmmarck said, always be polite and remind them of your loyalty. I will add a caveat to that advice, though, and say that when being nice does not get you the results you desire (and you are not asking for anything outrageous and outlandish), you need to be a man about it and insist that things are made right. If your phone doesn't work, and you signed a 2 year contract, they need to make it right. That doesn't mean giving you a brand new SG3 or iPhone 32g, but I certainly think that a Maxx or Rezound is an even trade given release date and pricing.

I had no problem getting offered a different device without even having to ask. They know there is issues with this phone and gave me no trouble about it. Only trouble I had was getting a maxx. They said no way possible straight from corporate higher ups. iPhone is off limits due to a contract with apple.

Never got that why would apple care? I would buy stuff from them and their app store and even potentially become a future loyal customer. Same with any other manufacturers it's an opportunity to potentially win over a customer from a competitor at Verizon's expense I would think.

I would take a maxx but if I can't I would take the rezound over regular razr I think. Though I don't really want either being they are the phones I chose the nexus over but unfortunately there's no other option through Verizon.

So I love this galaxy nexus a lot. But battery life and signal problems are starting to really get on my nerves. So what do you guys think are the chances that if I to verizon about these problems that they will switch me into a new phone..... Say the galaxy s3

I also had the exact same issue, I got the nexus & the battery & signal were so bad I kept complaining that after about the 5th to 6th call they let me switch to the Razr Maxx... I past the 14day Window too... So if you are persistent about the problems they most likely will let you swap phones. When they said I could all i did was say what as the best battery life because I work outside &don't have access to keep it on a charger. That's when they said try the Maxx.

Same, although I did order a new SIM from ebay. So, once that shows up, I'll give it a shot and see if that fixes the issue for me (it has for a few others). If not, then I guess I'll have to try my luck on a refurb unit as I'm only six months into my current contract.

How has the replacement device been for those who took one? I been reading in both the razr and rezound forums a lot of them have the same data and service drops issue that has my 6th nexus currently shelved. So it's hard for me to choose a replacement device if all 4G phones will experience the same issues for people in certain areas.

My original Gnex was fine......until they launched LTE in my area. It couldn't hold onto any signal when on LTE for more than ten minutes. I installed "No Signal Alert" to track it. It'd drop all connection entirely. No LTE, no CDMA, no 1x, no nothing. It'd be gone for like 20 seconds, and then come back, rinse and repeat, like 10-15 times an hour. If I left it on CDMA only, it was fine. I had it replaced two weeks ago, and since then it has dropped connection precisely once, for about ten seconds. I'd say the new one is good to go.

It's unlikely they'll switch you out with anything until you've been through a few replacements that don't fix your issue. Who knows, you might get a great one...mine works perfectly.

I have been through 6 replacements and they are waiting for me to tell them what replacement I want. I'm not sure I want another nexus or another device if I'm gone experience the same issues.

See I'm on my 6th nexus and don't want anymore but something needs to be done even if that means leaving this 4s hooked up so be it.

I'll be on my seventh and going up. Got my replacement, sat on my couch, and lost all signal. So my couch is a dead zone for the Nexus. So I'm back on the iPhone 4s.

When I was on the phone with Verizon last week, I asked how many Nexus phones I'll need to go through before my $700.00 is well spent. She said the warrany doesn't end until December so I have time for unlimited exchanges. *sigh*

I feel so fortunate, I have had my GNEX since day one and not experienced these issues, thankfully.

Assuming you have updated to 4.04, you may want to consider rooting, great performance and battery life opportunities. If you are already on the updates radios, you may not see any better reception though.

I wonder if the area may be the issue?

I am in So Cal, strong 4G and the new radios made a world of difference for me.

The Maxx I got to replace my nexus has been great. There are occasional signal issues, but I attribute these ones to the network. (They just upgraded chicagoland last week, and almost all of the issues are gone)

Plus, the ICS upgrade is freaking fantastic. Faster, more stable connections, and the OS is 95% stock ICS. Seriously. If you're coming from a nexus, a Motorola device is the way to go now.

They offered me one right away. Then again, I had been talking with them about my network issues since February.

They seem to be more hesitant with the Maxx as opposed to the regular razr.
