Yet another post about my phone battery!

I totally forgot this was an S6. Sorry lol. But I hope you can solve the problem.

My experience with previous iPhones was great idle and standby time, especially compared to any Android device. Doze with marshmallow will definitely help however it's shortfall is the device needs to be absolutely still (no movement) so it will work great when the person is sleeping but anything else it will react the same as it does now (from my understanding). I doubt you will experience the same great idle time on android as you did on your old iPhone. Good luck, I love my S6 but the battery consumption is average.

I am experiencing similar issues, and Android System appears to be the culprit. My question for the OP is are you using the regular version of GSam battery monitor? When I click on Android System to view the details, the "Usage Details" section only contains CPU Usage and App UID, no information about Wake Locks. There isn't even a "Wakelock Detail" section in mine.

My battery drain is much less when I turn WiFi off (I always have data and location off). And when I turned on airplane mode with WiFi off, it is even better. I'm on AT&T, if that information helps. I sent the phone into Samsung almost 2 weeks ago, and they stated the problem as ""WON'T DOWNLOAD SW/PRL" and the solution as "S/W UPDATED". I was excited to get it back and return to the great experience I had in my first three months using the phone (I started having battery issues in late September, when I updated to 5.1.1 - not sure if this is just coincidental, I doubt it is)

You can't get wake lock info now for a while, unless a phone is rooted.

Now you can download Wake Lock Detector from the Play Store and then follow the instructions to run it through your computer with your phone connected and get wake locks from that.

Have you done a cache wipe after the update?

Correct. Being on WiFi does not matter. WiFi is used for data only unless you are able to use WiFi calling. Otherwise your device still searches for a signal for calls and sms/mms.

When you are on WiFi, the phone does not need to obtain and hold a data connection through 3G/4G. This takes up a considerable amount of battery power over a 2G signal for calls/texts. If they have a weak signal, it would not matter to phone drain while on WiFi.

This has nothing to do with that, though. It's a deep-sleep issue of the phone never sleeping, not a signal drain problem.

You are completely missing that the phone signal trying to get a good signal will keep the phone from sleeping.

A bad phone signal will also do this, it is constantly searching for a better signal and doesn't sleep.

I understand that, Kelly. But without the phone going to sleep, the processor will consume the most battery power. Phones deep sleep on weak connections all the time. But they don't have issues while WiFi is on and connected.

My phone (when in my apartment) is on roaming with VERY weak signal all the time and I have no problems when WiFi is on, keeping a strong data connection. Almost no drain because the phone does not need to search for a signal, certainly not while it is in a deep sleep state (confirmed when turning WiFi off overnight. About 0.25% per hour drain. A little worse than when WiFi is on).
