Yet Another S4 power problem - Cant charge via AC - OK via USB/Laptop

This phone went from working fine to not being able to charge via AC. Here is what is happening.
I am going to list all of the things that I can think of that might lend some clues to those who read it.
I am assuming the micro port is fine as I am able to charge it using the USB portion of the charger but it charges so slow and is not always accessible.

PLUGGED INTO AC – most times the power bolt lights up then shuts off and starts to drain remaining battery not charge it. Sometimes it does nothing at all.
PLUGGED INTO LAPTOP - charges fine using the same cord (Samsujng OEM) that I used for AC attempt
CHARGERS – tried both of my chargers 2 (SAMSUNG OEM) power cords ( how can the both be bad)
PHONE CONNECTS AS INSTALLER – When connecting via Laptop it recognizes it first as installer then goes to device and I can then see all DCIM files, pictures etc. but this is how it has always functioned after plugging in via USB
AFTER THIS GETTING PHONE CHARGED UP AGAIN - Got my phone to charge via new battery as I have a battery charger and when I re-started it…..I have several websites that I keep open all the time and these did not come up and they always come back on after powering back up
INCIDENTALS – I was away so the morning of the day that this power problem happened I think I removed the charger from the wall before removing the phone. This is the only thing that I can think of that I did differently than usual. I have not had any water issues etc.
PHONE - says that it needs to be updated but I cant as I need more memory and I don’t know what to delete. I have deleted photos, unused apps and memos etc and it does not decrease the need space required to update.
PLUGGED INTO DC – Car charger cannot be checked as it was always marginal so I did not want to try it

OBSERVATION - This is my third Samsung phone that has had power problems the other two has mini port problems, Does anyone think that this is Samsung's weak link as my fellow IPhone users never seem to have to charge their phones as often as Galaxy users. DOes nayong think this runs true.

The AC chargers have the data pins shorted, plugging into a computer doesn't do that, so there's probably a problem in the phone.

Uninstall some apps. (If you back them up, you can reinstall them later, or you can just reinstall them from the Play Store.)

I think that the choice of a microUSB connector as the standard for the industry was a bad choice. It's not rugged enough to be plugged into twice a day or more.

as my fellow IPhone users never seem to have to charge their phones as often as Galaxy users.
iPhones, due to the way they work, make better use of power than Android phones - that's been known for years. That and iMessage, are the only points in their favor. The fact that they're made by Apple, for me, negates any advantage those two things give.

Thanks Rukbat
1. How do I backup apps....any direction link etc is appreciated
2. I find it hard to believe that both chargers went out on the same exact day - still think it is not hardware related but I am grasping at straws
Thanks

USB ports are not powerful enough to charge your phone except very slowly. I would suspect the battery, replace or borrow someone else's battery. If it is not the charger, usb cable or battery the next step would be to reset the phone. If that fails a trip to a service shop may be next!

A Backup app like Mybackup can backup your data and apps to the SD card. After the full reset, go to the play store and reinstall Mybackup first. Use it to restore Apps and data from the card. It is not perfect but does restore most of your stuff. If you have Sprint or Verizon, your contacts will be restored automatically. Some other carriers offer this service! let us know how it works out for you
