Yet another unlimited data upgrade scenario

You can transfer your upgrade to any non unlimited line(basic phone or tiered data smartphone) . Once the upgrade goes through, you should be able to transfer the upgrade to the line again. It might take a few days for things to clear your account before you can transfer to the same line.

To which line again? Run this by me again please, 'cause I don't think I'm getting it. We have three lines: A (mine), B (my wife's), and C (my son's). A and B are eligible for upgrades, C isn't. A has a smartphone, B and C have dumb phones. Suppose, an upgrade goes from A to C, and C gets a smartphone. Doesn't that mean that the A's own opportunity for an upgrade is used up? Then, line B gets upgraded to a smartphone which subsequently is passed to line A. Doesn't that mean that now the B's opportunity for an upgrade is also used up for 2 years? And the 2-year period for the C's opportunity for an upgrade, now effective April'14, is also used up, and starts over from now? That is, all three lines have lost their upgradeability for next two years? Or what am I missing?

Ah, yes, I was thinking that all lines were out of contract, but you only have two lines out of contract . Basically A would transfer upgrade to B, and C would be upgraded (or vice versa). So you would have 2 upgrades to use now.

My concern is this: once the upgrade from A passed on to C, wouldn't Verizon object to moving the smartphone from B to A, saying that A had already used up it's upgrade? That is, B used up its upgrade, and A ended up with a new smartphone.

Doesn't matter which line the phone ends up on. You can sell it for all they care. But certain third party retailers may have an issue and may charge you a secondary etf of $400 for certain changes
