So, I'm on Verizon right now with the Samsung Fascinate. And Verizon is really sucking right now. And thanks to Get Out of Your Verizon Contract Without Paying an Early Termination Fee I can cancel my contract for free! And if this is for real, then I will cancel it! :D I would MUCH rather be on a no-contract plan. Verizon's prices are absolutely outrageous. Anyway, I am really eyeing the Optimus V. My uncle has the Optimus S for Sprint, and I'm figuring that this phone is almost the exact same. It's a really nice phone, and you guys seem to have a very lively forum. Plenty of hacks. My kind of phone.
I look forward to working with you all if this works out. :)

Is there anything I should know about this phone? Any issues? Fun stuff that I get to fix?
Thanks so much. :)

Bad points?
No Flash (software or for the camera)

No LED (not a big deal once you adapt and add an app, I use "easy Reminder, it chimes every so often after missing a call)

Lack of space. Custom roms can fix this or you can just root and move things to teh SDcard. It;s not a huge issue for most people even stock.

Battery life. When stock it sucks,. plain and simple, but it's nothing shocking for a smart phone. Expect a day at best. Use a good custom rom and some tweaks and 2 days is possible.

Lastly
The rubber coating peels off and it's slow in stock form next to a custom rom'd version.

Other than that, it's a pretty decent little phone. None of those are deal killers and a little effort makes it a great phone.
Good luck.

Yeah, the Fascinate has the same cons. Except for the Flash. It has flash.. Even if I did want Flash player for anything on the internet, I could just use Skyfire Browser. That has flash built in. I always used that when my Fascinate was still on Eclair.. It doesn't have an LED either, so that's nothing new. And I love flashing custom ROMs/Kernels/Themes. It always makes the phone run better and faster. I'm really thinking about getting this phone as soon as July 1st rolls around.

And as for the rubber coating peeling off, I'll just get a nice case for it since I'll be saving so much cash. :P

Why not get the Motorola Triumph?

Well, its going to be pretty expensive when it does come out, and I'm just a poor little stock boy at Publix who doesn't get paid much. I may get it later on when its not as expensive. Lol. For now, I just want something other than Verizon.

you will love the V. the V and the S are definately the better variants of the Optimus One line of phones

my friend got was up for a 2 year upgrade on Verizon and instead of switching to Virgin, she bought the LG Vortex and another 2 year contract. now she has a phone that does not have many roms available, lags, and has a lot of google stuff removed in place of Bing. oh, shes also paying like 130 a month.

Get the V. you will enjoy it. the service is fine, not as full coverage as some of the big names, its based on sprints network, so expect the same coverage as any fellow sprint users you know.

oh, a tip, get a screen protector ASAP. the screen on the V is not glass like the S. its pretty scratch resistant, BUT it can still be scratched in ways glass cant. a dollar screen protector off ebay will do fine, thats what I have.

and I have not seen the rubberized coating peel off yet, its holding up very well. even with the abuse I put on my phone.

My rubber coating has a few dings from dropping it, thank god for screen protectors, but it isn't peeling off at all yet. :)

+1 on the whole verizon sucks thing. I bought the O V and have been extremely happy with it. Virgin's service is just as good (if not better) as the crap I got with verizon and less than half the cost.

Ok, figured you could afford a better phone seeing you're coming from VZ & having the SGS to sell. Very happy with my OV but will def be upgrading to the MT. I have a TPU case so no rubber problems.

Yeah, I definitely understand. The thing is, I had the money to buy the Fascinate back when I worked at this call center which paid like $10/hr and I worked 90 hrs every two weeks. Good pay, but the job sucked terribly. So, I quit and got a job at Publix Supermarkets and I get paid a lot less, but it's a much more enjoyable job. But ever since I quit working at the call center, my dad took over the phone bill, and he's about ready to get rid of it all. He wants the whole family to go with pre-paid phones like Virgin Mobile and stuff. And since VM's cheapest plan is $25, I'm going with that.
I could pay $25 for service that will probably work better in my area, or $120 for service with terrible coverage in my area. And I probably would sell my Fascinate, but I would like to get the Optimus V before selling it so that I won't be phone-less.

So basically, I'm broke and tired of having my dad pay for my service. I'd rather pay for everything myself. When I get enough money saved up, I will most definitely look at the MT. Lol.

Verizon Sucks. Hopefully Virgin Mobile will be much better. :)

IMHO Get the OV first for the $150. U might even find it for $120-$130 since alot of places are running local deals trying to unload these before the Triumph releases. I say this bc this is a great value of a phone and with the 3 processors it houses will function great with Froyo for a few years with good resale value. The Triumph is kind of a "roll of the dice" atm and for $300 it will have a very hard time being double the phone the OV is ROMed. I am with u about waiting till it drops in price after the hype dies out.

Lol, I even underclocked my Fascinate to run at 600mhz to get ready for a "slower" phone, and it actually runs very well. There's a couple of lags here and there, but it does't bother me. A lot of the people over at the Fascinate forum want to make their fascinate as fast as possible. I used to want that. But now, I just want a fully functional phone that will work. The Optimus V looks like that kind of phone. Lol. And I wont be able to stop myself from flashing ROMs on it. I can't wait to learn everything about this phone. That aospCM7 rom you guys have on here looks pretty awesome. It looks a lot like the Fascinate's community rom (Ultimate Kang Bang). We don't have much of a CM7 rom developed yet. Well, we do, but its not fully functional yet.
And what was that about 3 processors in the OV?

The OV runs a 600Mhz CPU and a 400Mhz dedicated communications processor plus a dedicated 325 Mhz GPU. It still lags now and then on some apps like angry birds but nothing not tolerable.
