lol. I think the posts were a little over the top but what else do you want us to do? Hold your hand and tell you it's coming? We can't force Verizon/Samsung to update the phone any faster.

Here is the rub, what other kind of help can other members give him? Some how-some way we can make VZW release froyo for the fascinate? Perhaps we can set up a picket line in front VZM HQ, boycott all VZW products, start spamming the VZW facebook page???

The way I see it:
If you really have the itch to upgrade, take the time to learn the steps to put on EB01, or whatever flavor. It will take time and you will need to read, read and read. Once you have done it, you will look back on how easy it really was.
If you want to stick with official releases (and I understand that), then you need to wait. No point in whining to the people here, they can't help with official releases. It will get here when it gets here.
But the people here CAN help you to the path of flashing one of the flavors of unofficial roms. Since the majority audience of this board is going to be people that can help you flash an unofficial rom, and virtually zero people that can confirm with any accuracy when an official rom will release, then when you come here and ask about an official version release, nearly 100% of the replies are going to tell you how to flash an unofficial rom. That is the way it is.
This whole thread is about people who root, and their comments saying "I already have froyo - who cares" each time there is a OTA Froyo question. It's about the comments being made, not the fact that we are still waiting. Man people...reading comprehension.
Also, the Official rom released yesterday from Sprint....that was predicted with a 100% accuracy a week ago...on this site.
The only help he asked for was for rooted folks to restrain themselves from posting their "but I already have froyo, why does this matter" comments. They are not constructive or helpful in any way.

Look at the responses. I don't see any replies that are condescending or unhelpful.
That's really the reason I haven't done it. I've read posts where a person spends hours reading/rooting/moving files/etc and then has to undo/redo things in order to upgrade. I don't want to spend hours futzing with my phone only to have to undo/redo some of it when the next best thing rolls around. If I knew it was a one-time-only thing I could stomach it.
But then I don't complain much about not having froyo either, I think I'm more pissed about the fact that Verizon said it would upgraded by the end of 2010 (said so on the Verizon site last year) and we still don't have it. It's not like my phone is an unuseable POS without it.
I don't find the 'don't care cuz I already have it' posts any less helpful than a bazillion other posts on here (including this one). For me, it's better for my sanity if I just kind of forget about it and I'll get it when I get it.

I'm nearly certain he didn't direct this thread at the other thread he had started, but let me check....nope. I already posted why I agree with the OP, but I'll post it here again, since you don't read prior posts.
Whenever news is posted about an Official froyo update, people who have rooted have a tendency to make their "I already have froyo" comments. They are there, and if you look beyond the one thread...which was made..what...Yesterday or the day before...you will find them. Also check the comments of news postings on the main page.

Just because you're rooted doesn't mean you "already have froyo". I agree that those posts aren't helpful, but the majority of us are here to help. I don't think it's fair to generalize an entire community because a few smug assholes have those views.
It does indirectly. If Froyo were released, this thread would most likely not be here. And this is about as effective as all of the complaining about the Thunderbolt release delay.

So, when the common response to a legitimate question regarding an update is "Who cares I've already hacked it", it gets mighty tiring.
Thanks to those on this thread who have realized this and wrote back with some support of that.
Anyway, I'll keep on waiting, and hope Verizon surprises us with Froyo at any minute....

WOW. i think maybe its time to take a step back. im sorry my comment cause this fire storm. i am not mad at the op, i am annoyed at another post along these lines. that being said i could have been more tactful. i think everyone needs to chill out. no sence getting mad at folks over this.

I did not mean to generalize. What I meant to say was that those few, who make those "I already have froyo" comments. They are (by default) those who have rooted their phone with a froyo rom.
I also understand that rooting doesn't = froyo. But if you have a fascinate, and you DO have froyo, you rooted (or went outside the OTA realm). Therefore, folks who say they have already have froyo = rooted peoples.
