Your 5.1.1 impressions?

I received the OTA 5.1.1 update last week and have had many problems. I've gone through clearing the cache all the way through doing a factory reset. Most of my apps fail to launch including standard google apps such as Google Drive and Photos. Other 3rd party apps such as Firefox and ESPN don't launch.

Is anyone else experiencing these? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I'm experiencing weird things such as apps closing abruptly, automatic reboots and still some stuttering behavior... Which seems like persistent memory leak issues. Haven't cleared cache or performed a factory reset but I'd like to avoid doing so.

I completely understand your trepidation regarding preforming an FDR, but clearing your cache can't hurt anything and probably would help :)

I've had the OTA a couple of weeks - stock 16g wireless tablet. Everything was going fine until yesterday when there was a random reboot. It took a long time to get to the start screen, but it did. It has happened twice since, but reboot is faster. I think it may be due to app updates since the OTA, especially Facebook, so I have taken no action yet. Otherwise it's smoother and faster. I haven't noticed much difference with the battery, but that has never been much of a problem.

I finally cleared the cache and have had no problems (knock on wood) ever since. Very fast and responsive. Hopefully any issues have been resolved.

Mine went from laggy with constant home screen redraws and such, but since the update it's like a whole other tablet! The thing is fast responsive and overall just a pleasure to use finally. I started using it again after leaving it sitting in a drawer for the last few months. It now blows away my n7 2013 in responsiveness. Still has that glitchy auto brightness though that always seems to readjust for no reason.

Can someone explain how to clear the cache from the recovery option?

Here you go 😉
To wipe the cache partition, follow these steps:

Turn off the device.
Press and hold the Volume Down and Power keys at the same time for about 10 seconds.
An image of an Android lying on its back will appear.
Press the Volume Down key twice until "Recovery mode" appears on the screen.
Press the Power key to restart in "Recovery mode."
An image of an Android with a red triangle will appear.
Press the Power key and Volume Up keys simultaneously.
Use the Volume keys to scroll to "wipe data cache partition" and press the Power key to select.
