Your Favorite Browser...

Where do you find uBlock? I see an older version in the Playstore. Is this the same one? I have Firefox.

In FF, go to the overflow/hamburger menu>Tools>Add-Ons>Browse all Firefox Add-ons.

Look for uBlock Origin - not uBlock.

Use the uBlock Origin extension in Chrome on your PC as well.
Best I've seen!

I just downloaded "Brave" today and thus far I can tell you it is the best browser I have ever used. It reminds me of Chrome to an extent, but has adware protection, is super fast and so far I am really loving my experience with it. Have not seen one pop up in the 4-5 hours I had installed it.

I'll have to give it a go.
Thanks!

Using Brave. Really Like it.

Just installed Brave it really is smoother and faster than chrome.

Would anyone know if chrome bookmarks can be transferred over ?

That is one thing this browser is not able to do. A lot of people are hoping for it. If you email the developer from the play store maybe they will incorporate this in one of their upcoming builds. Thing I am trying to figure out is if there is a way to get your faves on the front like the ones that are preinstalled? I would much rather have all of my bookmarks there then to have to keep them in a separate folder but I can deal with it for now

AFAIK, those links are created due to "most visited" behavior, but frankly they are still a mystery to me. On Chrome, they emerge some of the time, but not others.

I've contacted the Devs and requested the ability to select a home/starting page. Having these links on that page would be a big plus.

every now and then I get told that one browser or another is better than chrome. I always try it for a day or two and end up right back to using chrome.

I personally think it integrates better with everything, the only time it ever felt "slow" was on a graphically heavy site, which all browsers ive tried struggle with to some extent.

I can see the ad block features being very important to some people, it doesn't bother me that much, and honestly thats how sites make their money to keep offering free quality content. Granted their are a lot of malicious sites out there that use pop-ups in a less than desirable way, but if I want to look at porn that bad I just go on my PC.

I was just reading up on Brave. Looks like a good solution for the short-term, so I am going to download it and test it.

According to the developers, ads are coming to Brave, the difference will be the browser will host the ads and your tracking data will be hosted on your phone. If I am reading this right, the browser will actually pay the user 15% of ad revenue to keep using Brave, 55% to the sites, and 15% is kept for Brave. Interesting model, but if ad free is what you want, it may be a killer.

Back to Firefox. The adblocking in Brave just didn't cut it for me. It didn't catch everything that uBlock Origin does, and it left large gaps where the ads were. Plus, I couldn't shake the feeling that Brave is just half-baked.

With FF set up the way I like - adblocking intact - there has been one lingering configuration that has always bothered me - the default text size.

The default text size in FF is smaller than the default size in Chrome, and maddeningly, the "Text Size" adjustment in FF Settings is exclusively for "Desktop View". Who knew? I'd adjust the text size up and down and never see a damn thing change on a web page in standard mobile viewing. Ugh....

So, if you want the same size default text in FF as you enjoy in Chrome for instance, here's how to get it:

- In FireFox, enter about:config in the URL field
- Use Search to find "layout.css.devPixelsPerPx"
- Change the value to 4.0 or 4.25
- Restart FireFox (I do this out of OCD, it appears that the change is immediate)

Boom!
Perfectly readable pages (as in default Chrome) in FireFox!

Hope this helps someone else.

I used Dolphin for 5 years, but have switched to Chrome only with my Pixel XL. I wanted the most seamless operating experience possible. Opening from google search results to full chrome browser is so fast.

Toledo anyone get text wrap when zooming to work on any of the browsers?

I will admit, after this post I said screw it and decided to try "Brave" Ive been using it for a few days now as my primary, and i like it because its nearly identical to chrome and seems just as if not faster...

Would recommend it to others in a heart beat.

That was my thoughts too, but so far brave is just as if not faster.

Sure.
In FireFox, just install the add-on "Android Text Reflow".

There's also a killer reader mode on FF that is not a mystery to use, as on most browsers. To enable it to work on most pages, go to about:config, find reader.parse-on-load.enabled and set it to True.

Boom. The best reader mode I've seen yet.

Again, hope this helps.

At the moment, I am all-in with FireFox, especially since I've solved the text size and reader mode quandaries. uBlock Origin is hands-down the best adblocker - but I knew that from using it as an extension for Chrome on my PC and Chromebook.
