That's cool, I didn't know that was the reason they made it without Sense... I'll have to give that one a shot then as I'm a Launcher Pro user. Do you think this helps with battery life? That would be the main reason I'd use it, as my phone (with Sky Raider 3.5) is wicked fast as is.

I think the battery life is good with this rom. It's still a sense rom just without the sense widgets (since you can't use them with launcherpro anyway). The rom is great and it has some nice themes for it.

Good thread for finding out about roms you might not even know are out there. I just flashed Myn's warm twopointtwo, very nice. A spedo gauge option for the battery icon, how cool is that.

Has anyone tried IncRom? I was reading on XDA that combined with the HeyItsLou Kernel, it supposedly provides great battery life. Not doing too badly with SkyRaider 3.5 and HeyItsLou Kernel #4 though... stable, fast, and conservative on battery is where it's at for me.

Was thinking I should probably give Cyanogen a try before I completely settle.

I just loaded Skyraider 3.5 (w/ Sense) last night and I dig it. I tried Cyanogen before, but I missed Sense too much. I figure I'll go with this for a little while before trying something else.

I'm loving senseless rEVOlution. It is for people that use an alternative launcher like launcherpro or adw. It strips out the sense widgets so they don't take up resources or run in the background. Great rom so far.

BTW, does your camcorder work using this? That was my only gripe with regular Redemption... no camcorder function (caused the phone to freeze and eventually would have to force close the camera app). I've downloaded Senseless rEVOlution, think I might give it a whirl.

Camcorder works for me just fine.

Make mine Virtuous

New to this stuff, just rooted my Dinc last week and installed Virtuous 3.1 last night.

So far, battery life, especially with SetCPU, is markedly improved.

My objective was not to drastically change things. I like Sense a lot. Just wanted more control over power usage, and wanted to kill the Verizon bloatware.

Looked at Skyraider but really wanted to avoid any "gotcha's," I need the Dinc to work reliably, and Virtuous was an adequate change but not too dramatic. Also using the stock kernel with Virtuous 3.1....may tinker with that when the ROM is a little more mature.

Let's call it a good "introductory" ROM for those who like Sense already.

I love myn's warm twopointtwo. Customizable, stable and downright sexy.

Thanks for the tip, the link doesnt work, but I found a page on XDA that has the mods. I guess some of those are for the Evo only, I tried to flash them and they didnt work. Very cool rom, tons of tweeks.
By the way, when you flash mods you dont have to wipe right, just unzip and go?

Goto the Mods & Roms HQ thread for Dinc links to the Roms it sticky-ed in this forum.
Your going to want to flash only Roms made for the Dinc and always wipe data and cache each flash.

I know about doing a full wipe when switching roms, but I heard when its a update or mod to an existing rom you dont.

I've tried Virtuous about a month ago then it just crashed and wiped itself. I don't know how it managed that but I had a stock back up.
Ran stock for awhile until this past weekend. Jumped around from SkyRaider to Cyanogen 6. Went back to Virtuous.

SkyRaider, has Sense UI and I liked the flipping Sense clock/weather widget. It's just something wasn't quite right. Decided to try Cyanogen 6.

Cyanogen 6, Android UI (not sense), Incredible amounts of customization. ADW Launcher is pretty sweet I must say. I liked the new ringtones and notification tones. (Where can I get those?). I liked the invisible pattern unlock option. Good way to mess with people if they should touch my phone. Enjoyed the Android Keyboard as well.

I missed Sense UI a little and definitely missed the Sense clock/weather widget. My battery drained kind of fast with this ROM. Although there are tons of customizations available, there was just way too much to remember. I couldn't remember where every little thing was. Ultimately, the vast amount of customization annoyed me. Went back to Virtuous.



Virtuous 3.1, has Sense UI, fast, bloatware free, easy on battery (both times that I've used it). If only this has some of the things Cyanogen 6 has. (invisible pattern unlock, new tones like the ones found in Cyanogen 6, android keyboard) Sigh, can't have everything

Your right if its just an update or any MOD you shouldn't have to wipe.

I wipe cache, dalvik cache, and battery stats when flashing kernels, but with regular mods I usually wipe cache and dalvik

After using MIUI for awhile I have to say that I am very impressed as far as quality goes. There is only a few things to fix but this thing is definitely staying on my phone for the foreseeable future.

I have been playing with miui and I have a problem. My contacts show up in my address book but they won't show up in the messaging app. What's up with that?
