Your Reasons For Buying Evo LTE

I loved my og EVO, but after 2 years it was starting to show it's age.

For at least the last 6-9 months, I was constantly having to decide what apps to keep installed because I was always running out of space. That is, by far, the biggest reason I upgraded.*

I never rooted, so I also felt like I was falling too far behind in terms of software. I was missing out on newer features of some software, and missing out on entire great apps in some cases like Google Chrome.

Add in the other benefits of the EVO LTE (e.g. gorgeous screen, better battery life, better kickstand) and I was sold. I don't regret it one bit, and my og EVO feels like an ancient device when I pick it up now. It had a good 2 year run, but it was time to say goodbye.

*The EVO LTE is, without a doubt, a huge improvement over the og EVO when it comes to storage for apps, but I'm not without my disappointments - one minor and one major.

The minor disappointment is that only 2 gb were partitioned for internal app storage. I would have preferred one large 11 gb partition, but I also understand why they did it this way. Even at only 2 gb, the EVO LTE provides about 6 times as much storage space for apps. Plus, you can still move some apps to the other "phone storage" partition.

Which brings me to my major disappointment, but it's an ICS issue, not an EVO LTE issue. Apparently there is a bug that causes many (most? all?) ICS phones to enter a reboot loop when too many apps have been moved to the "phone storage" partition. So, rather than having 2 gb, plus 11 gb for apps that can be moved, the EVO LTE really only offers 2 gb plus no more than 50 apps or 1 gb on "phone storage". Like I said, though, it's still a huge improvement over the og EVO, and it's a problem that would exist with any other ICS phone I might have purchased instead.

Wow. EVO was a champ today under very heavy use during work travel. Tons of calls, txt, emails, documents, maps and barely any impact on battery life all over 3g. Awesome!
Simultaneous voice and data over 3g was very helpful today during conf calls. This is a true modern smartphone that finally delivers like it should. Hope it keeps it up. Very impressed so far.

I walked in to Best Buy Saturday (6/2) at about 10:20am on a whim. I thought if they happened to have any I'd get one. I got the last one. They had a promotion to get a $50 gift card with a 2-year contract, but they forgot to give it to me. So I went back Monday to get it and they just gave me cash back ($54). So I got it for $150. No too shabby. :D

Battery life will probably be the biggest improvement over the OG EVO.

But let's not forget:

-Better screen
-Much faster CPU
-More storage
-Better camera

Because I was sick of iOS, sick of the iphone screen size and love all the extra stuff android brings to the table (how I missed chrome to phone).

  1. Upgrade eligibility
  2. Need for speed
  3. current OG EVO has a few dark spots from internal screen damage, blocking view of critical data & buttons

Honestly, if my screen wasn't messed up I wouldn't have upgraded. I don't like to incur a learning curve cost (ICS) without any valuable benefits.

I too am over the "upgrade to have the newest toy" disease.
