For me it's:

Pure Calendar / Pure Grid Calendar / Forecast (everything by the developer Koxx!)
Abduction World Attack
Listen (by Google)
Nimbuzz (until Skype can get themselves in gear and release their own proper app)
Spare Parts (to speed up screen switches and turn on the groovy screen flip)

Nimbuzz doesn't log into facebook for me. It then opened a chat with someone named facebook asking for my birthdate. the user was offline, but thought I'd ask here if that's how its supposed to work.

Most Used Apps
1. Beautiful Widgets
2. PDA Net
3. Underworld Traffic (game)
4. Cestos (multiplayer game)

9. Where

Can someone recommend a good FaceBook app for the Moto Droid?

Since facebook has their own app in the store now, you really have two options.
You can either use the official facebook app, or, if you're looking for an alternative to that, try touch.facebook.com
I think any other alternatives out there pretty much dried up once there was an official app.

Cool as mud. Thanks for the heads up.

I think that as I get used to my phone my choice of what is the best Android application will change. So here is my current list:

  1. Wave Secure
  2. Beautiful Widgets
  3. Dolphin Browser
  4. SMS Backup and Restore
  5. ASTRO

Other honourable Mentions:

RA-pulse-v1.5.2 flash recovery image.
Spare Parts
eBuddy
Barcode Scanner
Aldiko (eReader)
Free Dictionary Org
QuickDic (EN/DE, DE/EN)
GDocs Notepad
Listen
Google Sky Map
Graffi (free version)

That's all folks. ;)

Phil.

Locale is the only real Must Have that I've found so far. It's incredible, cool and highly practical.

Pandora is a good one for music fans.

PDANet will let you use your Droid as a modem for your laptop. For free. I get about 2.4mbs with it. I hear that T-Mobile won't let you run it, but Verizon will.

My Tracks
is good for hiking and such. Haven't gotten to practically use it yet, but it looks pretty cool.

Handcent SMS
is a great Text Messaging alternative. Beats the heck out of the proprietary one.

I'm going to amend mine a bit since it's been a few weeks since:

Still on my list -
Pandora
PDANet
MyTracks - had the chance to use it and, while a little buggy, I think I know what caused it and really like what it does. Great app.

New on my list -
Weather Channel - like the ease of use and, since I drive a lot, the ability to get the weather for "My Location" at any given time. Very cool.

Sports Tap - I use this often since I've quit watching as much on TV. Great way to keep up with any sport.

MixZing - I don't use MP3s a lot in favor of Pandora or my XM/Sirius radio, but when I do, I really like this app.

I know, that's six, but so what. I had removed HandCent not because it's not good, but I just don't text that much for it to make a big difference.

Honorable Mentions:
Dolphin Browser
Live Scores
USA Today
USA TV Guide
Shop Savvy
Sync My Pix

Top Five (in no particular order):

1. Facebook
2. Astrid
3. Meebo
4. Flight Track
5. Foreflight Weather (GREAT app for pilots, but pricey)

Honorable Mentions:
1. Bump
2. Astro
3. Yelp
4. Barcode Scanner
5. Fandango

(In no order)
1. Beautiful Widgets
2. Astro
3. PDAnet
4. Screebl (Pro or Free)
5. Twidroid

Couldn't decide on 5, so here they are in alphabetical order.

Advanced Task Killer
Adfree (Blocks Ads on Rooted phones, even in some Apps)
Math Alarm Clock (Makes you solve Math before snoozing or Dismissing)
PhoneMyPC (Control your PC from your phone)
SMS Backup (Saves all SMS to email, looks nice and very easy to read)
WirelessTether for Root (Like a modem with WiFi access)

Handcent
iMusic
NewsRob
Google Voice (use mainly for visual voicemail)
Beautiful Widgets

facebook
dolphin
goggles
last.fm
seesmic

oh and loving the 2.1 weather and news widget, definitely #1 if that counts as an app and not a system widget

1. Weather Widget Donate
2. SetCPU (root needed)
3. AdFree (root needed)
4. Nimbuzz IM
5. Picsay Pro
