Been having ongoing problems with my youtube app and the dreaded 'Connection to server lost' message. Installed an older apk which sorted the problem out until it updated yesterday. Now I can't get it working even when I install the older version.

It's not a DNS issue before anyone tells me to change the wifi settings.

Strange, I have the exact same issue. It started happening as soon as I updated the app and updated my phones software.

How can this be so difficult for them to sort out? This never happened when I had an iPhone. I do love my Android since switching, but it's these little things that annoy the life out of me!

I finally sorted the problem out. Installed an even older version and it now works again.

I don't mean to be rude, but this place is truly terrible for anyone needing advice on sorting out issues with their Android devices. I've never had a single problem of mine resolved by asking here and usually have to figure it out myself. Kinda defeats the point of the forum.

So no one responded in a timely manner! It seems you already knew the cause/solution. Try searching the relevant or other fourms within the A/C app. If you're patient someone will give you an answer. Other then that, google it

Thank you for the wise words.......

It's not as if no one responds in a timely manner. No one responds with anything useful, period. I have been patient in the past and I did not get any answer, so your advice I'm afraid is a bit pointless.

Oh, and if you answer is to 'google it', then I guess there is no point to this forum at all.

Have you stopped to consider that most people have not had this issue including myself? If it hasn't happened to others then they most likely don't have an answer..

Most times I find the answer by googling it..

It's a forum, not a repair service. If someone knows the answer you'll get it, but if no one does you won't. It's not like we're all paid experts sitting here waiting for questions. For what they pay me for answering questions here, I couldn't buy a glass of salt water in the middle of the ocean. [Just kidding, guys - nice big check last month.]

We never respond with a "google it" answer as that is not us. Also please remember we are all over the forums all the time .. So sometimes we may miss something. Ambassadors are humans too with jobs, family, friends, etc. -- So just because we didn't respond right away doesn't mean we simply won't respond -- Also very odd issues are sometimes harder to troubleshoot so we may do research before responding.

Some things that may help people to troubleshoot is if you mention the version of YouTube you were / are using, which phone you're using, and which carrier since carrier versions can different depending on what they modify / remove etc.... Also looking into your specific phone forums may have an answer from some of our awesome members :). A lot of times we help members but ... a lot of times they help us and themselves by finding things out. That is why we exist .. to help each other.

Again we try to help -- but we are only humans as well and aren't perfect :).

My first reaction would be a cache clear for You Tube or Play Store/Services. I actually had a hard time downloading the update a few days ago. The Play store cache was cleared first, and when that didn't work, I tried Services, and it went through.
