YouTube app profile picture is sideways

I'm using a note 8 on verizon and am having issues with uploading a profile picture on the youtube app.

Is there a way to make my YouTube profile picture appear correctly? When I use the app to upload a picture, some of the pictures tune out sideways even though they aren't like that in my gallery. One picture turned out fine, but some of the others were uploading sideways.

I tried doing it on the chrome browser, and it appeared to work, but when I opened the YouTube app it still looks sideways.

Most likely, the image is physically sideways with the EXIF data indicating which side is top. YouTube may be removing the EXIF data to make the file marginally smaller.

If this is the case, use an image editor to rotate the image left then right. In many editors, this will physically rotate the image to match the metadata.
