Seems like just another money grab to me. I paid for 90% of my music I listened to on the play music app years ago and now to listen to it with the screen off they force us to pay....

It's one of the downsides of YT Music -- for background play (which also means when the screen is off), you have to be a YT Premium subscriber. Send feedback to Google about this -- they recently relented and changed one of the other egregious restrictions for non-subscribers (i.e., casting your own uploaded music to Google Home/Chromecast speakers).

Did the fix the casting issue? The last time I tried it said I needed to upgrade to premium.

Unfortunately Google is completely destroying YouTube....and killing off their creators ability to make a living. They're trying their best to force everyone on to premium, and completely get rid of ad supported free. I'm pretty old school with my music listening, and don't rely on any service because I know how they operate.

I get my music for free, and listen to it free ;-) I know I'm a bad boy lol

You should have tapped Skip Trial and your own music plays with the screen off. Mine is right now as I type this. What I don't like is if I choose artist it's all of their songs, not broken up into albums like it was on Play Music. I put all of my music on the SD card in the phone and have better control over my own music.

I might be a good boy. I have YouTube Premium. I download the music I like from the app to my phone and upload to other cloud storage sites. I never actually listen to music using the app. Never trust the source of the music to keep on flowing

If it is your music, I suggest using samsung music app. It is pretty neat.
