When I use the YouTube I can't increase any videos resolution beyond 1440p what am I doing wrong?

Even going to videos that say 4K 60FPS HDR it still maxes out at 1440p? I can watch videos at 1080p 60FPS but I want to see what this screen can really do, is this being blocked by YouTube?

YouTube app will only allow you to play videos up to the screens max res. Which for the s8+ is 1440p (we got more width, but basically 1440p). So the YouTube app won't allow 4k to play. The phones hardware technically can play up to 4k 60fps. I believe you can use the web browser to play YouTube from there (desktop version) but performance might suffer.

Oh ok so 1440p is the max on YouTube, do you know if we can watch 1440p at 60FPS because 1080p at 60FPS is nice but that would be so much better.

I can't find any videos that play at 1440p 60FPS so maybe it can't play them...

I just tried it. If you use chrome and browse to YouTube in desktop mode, you can play 2160p60 without any issues (as long as your internet speed is fast enough). The phone can play 1440p60 just fine but it seems to not be updated for the YouTube app. Give it a little time and YouTube will probably update it to allow us to watch 1440p60 in the app. But if you want to see it now, just use Chrome in desktop mode.

Great thank you!
