Z3 Could not connect-connection error on e-mails, how can I fix this?

Z3 "Could not connect-connection error" on e-mails

I have recently bought a sony Xperia Z3 and it has been working fine until the latest update now I keep getting the error message "could not connect- connection error" when trying to retrieve my e-mails, I am not sure how to retrieve my e-mails and simple instructions will be much appreciated. (I tried auto-syncing data) and its on wi fi connection, the internet is working fine. Not sure how to resolve is it a bug in the new update?

Welcome to Android Central! Do you have more than one email account in the Email app? If so, are you getting that error for each account?

Try removing your email accounts from the Email app, then adding them back again.

Hey thanks for the welcome,

I tried removing my hotmail account and the orange wheel keeps spinning around when I re-added it and opened it. Tried turning the phone on and off after this and it still not working

Go to Settings>Apps>All​, select Email, and Clear Cache/Clear Data, then Force Stop. Now try again.

I have cleared cache but its not allowing me to clear data or force stop (greyed out)

Still not working hrumph.

See if you can wipe the system cache partition, which won't erase any personal data: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-16654
