Zip files in gmail app

Is it not possible to download an attachment in .zip format using the gmail app? I can't even click on the link our the little paperclip. I can unzip files with file manager that I get off my browser.

GMail only allows certain media types. You will need to use MailDroid (yes, I am the dev) or K9 (another great email client) to download the file to a FileManager and then unzip it.
