Just seen some info on the newly announced AXON 7 from ZTE and I got to say I'm impressed by the specs, especially the audio. Audio wise it is using a AK4490 DAC and from what I've quickly researched this will have very good sound and I'm excited to see if the sound can surpasses the HTC 10s. Also, the AXON 7 seems to be echoing HTC ONE features by fronting stereo speakers and general look. I was going to pounce on the HTC 10 but I may wait to see how the AXON 7 is received when it is eventually launched. Anybody other HTC fans intrigued by the AXON 7?

I am. I'm kind of annoyed, I might get have skipped the 10 if I knew about this ahead of time. I figure I'll grab one and try them both side by side.

I'm very excited by it. It looks like the audio will be best in class and 6gb memory is insane...The only thing that could derail it for me would be bad build quality and poor battery life, but most phones have at least one day battery life these days so that should be easy.

I had to return my HTC 10 due to a defective LCD. I was debating what to do, but now I know. The build quality and battery should be fine as will the speakers and dac. The only real question is the camera. Tech Radar said it was very, very close to the S7. Reviews are starting to show up on YouTube.

I am very interested in it. I still have my M7 and my phone before that was an HTC Hero. I find the 10 to be too expensive. And the ones that I have looked at I am not impressed with the camera or the screen. So yes I would consider the ZTE.

I'm sort of interested in the axon 7 but my m8 is still going strong.
Unfortunately, since marshmallow update my HTC ONE M8 hasn't worked properly... it dies on 20%... Seems like a bug as others reporting the same thing...

I'm going to hang on till I see user reviews of the AXON 7 before I make up my mind up about the HTC 10.

The dedicated audio chipset for the Axon 7 is an AKM 4961 + 4490. The problem is that rumors say its mono not stereo. The info I am posting is from the zteusa landing page.

I'm definitely interested, although I think more manufacturers will be concentrating on audio from now on, as cameras/speed etc are no mostly specced out.

I returned my HTC 10 during the 30 day return window because of the audio. The 10 is nowhere near the quality or volume of the HTC M7 or 8. I'm anxiously waiting for the Axon 7.

Me too I'm surprised this phone hasn't received more attention. Heard it might get released in July with option to completly change skin to Google's stock skin, very cool!

With HTC's Customer Service proven to be trash and their marketing full of lies, bring it on. When is this sucker getting released?

Just recognized QuickCharge 3.0 on the USB C implementation on this device. Unfortunately that's very, very bad. :( Otherwise there's a LOT to love about this device.

Well pretty much everyone is doing that except the Nexus line. Can't really blame them for following the market.

EDIT: I actually asked in the ZTE forums about this choice, no response though. I figure it's one of several possibilities:

* QC is cheaper to implement than USB-PD overall (maybe USB-PD requires extra chips, for example)
* Qualcomm won't provide engineering support for anything other than QC
* Manufacturers are looking to remain compatible with the vast majority of QC-compatible chargers that people already own
* Qualcomm is providing other inducements to adopt QC over USB-PD (lots of options when you're also the CPU provider)
