ZTE Axon 7 vs Galaxy S7?

I'm planning on getting another phone to replace my underwhelming Droid Turbo 2, and I've narrowed it down to these two. I can get both for the same price of $400 (although the S7 will be a "mint condition" refurb). I love both phones equally, with the S7 pulling ahead in waterproofing, camera, size and software while the Axon 7 pulls ahead in audio, futureproofing (Daydream compatible), looks, and value (I'd be getting a new device).

Which is the better buy?

You've got the criteria listed correctly, so just a matter of which set of preferences you decide to go with. I'd personally go Axon 7 of the two except for one thing - I have no idea if they're going to keep it up to date on software, particularly monthly security updates.
