ZTE Grand X Max+ and Ringtone Changing On Its Own

I've never had an issue with ringtones before but all of a sudden when I get a call sometimes it will ring with my selected ringtone or it will revert to a pre-installed ringtone. When I check the sound settings it still shows my selected ringtone. I've cleared the defaults for ringtone selection and tried resetting the ringtones to something else but I get the same results. I'm trying everything I can before doing a hard reset because I hate going through the hassle of re-doing everything again after a reset. (App install, App settings, Folders, Layout, etc.)

Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem or has anyone come across the same problem?

I'm running Android Version 5.1
Using Nova Launcher

Welcome back! Are you using custom ringtones, or preinstalled ones?

Try booting into Safe Mode, which temporarily disables all 3rd party apps. On most Android devices, while powered on, press and hold Power until the Power Off menu appears. Press and hold the Power Off selection until the Safe Mode prompt appears. Tap OK.

I actually just figured it out last night. I installed a volume control and for some reason that was interfering with my ringtones. As soon as I uninstalled it my ringtones have been working like they should. Thanks though.
